Lusting after a pair of MC1.2KW's .....

The meter is not big enough.:D

VERY TRUE. The meter need not be on the amp itself.

A virtual meter of the identical Mac appearance could be fed to a 4K projector entirely filling the space between the speakers on a 120" screen.

Jadis' uncle went from Burm 909s to Mc 1.2s. I have no idea if he's happy with what he did, but I know for sure he did it.

Interesting move...i have heard very good things about Macs from those who've owned and really listened to them.

He's happy. He said in the 60s he used McIntosh tube gears and he feels good having to walk the full circle. I was still a little boy when I say him playing the R2R in his living room. He had like a 20 year hiatus in the audio hobby and then in 2000 came back with a bang - Eggleston Ivy/ML. What a way to come back. :)

I still want a pair of MC1.2KW's. Not sure if it would be a good move or not. I am sure the MC2301's would ultimately be better, but I heard a friends system with the MC1.2KW's, the ease and smoothness I remember was unforgettable. They may not have been the most "transparent" amps I've heard, but I did enjoy the sound. Isn't that the point?

That is like Shindo...stunningly good to listen to. Remarkably low noise floor...many folks who own it stop looking for equipment. Some people enjoy the equipment bit...i do too...but ultimately my search is for stuff where i get satisfaction out of my equipment because i just enjoy my music...and no longer wish i could hear orchestral more this way or that way, etc.

Maybe that is what Macs do for their owners as well? Could be...very loyal following. I have come across many who run with SF Strads and swear by Mac amplification.
Both being the kind of sound that really satisifes when done right, even if SF Strad is not 'the most this or that' on the technical scale.

I live near one of the biggest Mc dealers, in "World of Sound" in Mill Valley, Ca. Of all the times I have visited, I have never had a "connection". It is as if I was listening to music without trimming the hairs in my ears. But I do love the looks of the MC2301's.
