Dear WBF members,
following my earlier post about connecting my turntable/cartridge (Goldmund Studio T3B/Clearaudio Accurate) to a phono stage (see: https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/mit-phono-cable-to-ayre-p-5xe.38512/ ), i stumbled towards the next challenge. As mentioned in the previous thread, i use the Magnum M1 phono cable and now i would like to look out for something better after i found what an old MI-350 Oracle interlink (not used for phono, but to power amplifier) can do for sound. On the second hand market cables like Oracle V1.2 phono, Oracle MA phono and -X phono are becoming very rare (with 100 Ohm, 1 kOhm and 47 kOhm settings, extra ground wire and more).
So i started thinking about alternative solutions. Would it be possible to use MIT RCA interlinks, and set the impedance to 5 kOhm (lowest setting). The cartridge needs to see 1 kOhm, so it's off a little. I know that the set impedance has to match the input as good as possible as can be learned from this thread: https://www.whatsbestforum.com/thre...erpts-from-brisson-interview-on-dagogo.22259/ . So a little next to the optimum, but for low impedance inputs the problem seems to be less prominent (see thread 2017 by ack above and i understand Bruce Brisson meant speaker loads). Anyone tried this?
I also looked into the possibility to convert one of the mentioned MIT cables from XLR to RCA. After a long search, including here on WBF (examples: https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/balanced-tonearm-cable.32864/ and https://www.whatsbestforum.com/threads/xlr-to-rca-diy-conversion.33822/page-2 ), much is clear, but i am not sure if the MIT cables are constructed different and general approaches are possible.
Thanks in advance.
