Who has compared these brands in a passive crossover (and not an interstage) context?

I'm looking for a super high-quality .01 microfarad capacitor.

What do you think is the "best" sounding capacitor in a passive crossover context, and why?

Where in hights,mid or bass?
In the hights definily the mundorf supreme silver in oil not the silvergold in oil.
most open wide deep soundstage. you can see deeper in music like a microscope. for me the cleanest sound you can get, but be careful if you have tonal errors in your signal chain it is merciless. it is often said that the capacitor is to blame but most of the time the errors are somewhere else.


as bypass cap richard jahre silver glimmer expensive(cessaro use it as cap for the horn driver 2.2uf (2500€)

I think you need a small good one. This russian caps a worldclass i use it ofen in the riaa phono.

Ron there are plenty of info on the web. I used to be into this a while back.
some mentioned above are not transparent. Most oil not period.
To be transparent means all audio freq are not attenuated. Panasonic metalized polypropylene are very transparent. But the imp of the drivers has an effect. The size of the load of the drivers has a effect to consider .
Lower values pass high frequencys better higher values less so. This is observed as a DC blocking cap use.

Ron, it sounds like you may be exploring rolling off your bass possibly to integrate separate subs / woofers? I explored this some years back and was in the same conundrum - which cap to buy?

One piece of advice (again assuming you're on the same journey) is to first buy a reasonably priced / quality capacitor and experiment with the rolloff frequency and how it sounds. The differences were pretty dramatic, as I recall in sonics and how they integrated. If you like the sharing of low frequencies via a low pass, then pursue the best high - quality cap for you. I think I ended up with V-Caps which have been removed from the chain once I got the Vivids, but I may pursue it again.

The value in question is .01 microfarad.

I ordered a pair of each of:

Duelund CAST Cu/Sn 0.01uF 630VDC

Mundorf Supreme S/G/O 0.01uF 1000VDC

The experiment here is a high pass filter to relieve the Jadis JA100s of reproducing frequencies below about 150Hz.

But all else being well I certainly don't like the idea of inserting an unnecessary capacitor into the signal path.
