The MPS has 4 ports for LEMO plugs and port one can have a battery, which i think is port #1.
However I have heard that the Narga battery option is not available where I am at, or maybe discontinued all together.

Now I have no great reason to believe that I need the battery, like no odd sounds coming out of the gear when on AC power.
But if I wanted to run the front end off of battery power, then how do people do that?
Is it as simple as just some lithium battery connected via the LEMO, and then charging it when I am not using the system?

I am sort of open to some help and thoughts here.

Thx

Hi the Nagra MPS is a discontinued psu replaced by the Nagra Classic psu. I’ve owned both the MPS and Classic. They are both good, but the classic psu with the supercap supply is best.

The battery option on the mps was designed for a phono stage by Nagra (don’t recall the model)

Yes depending how much current your source uses, a good 12v battery will work with a lemo.

Net net, what sources are you wanting to connect to a Nagra psu?

Thanks @jfrech

Certainly their JAZZ and VPS,

But there is nothing untoward about things now.
So it is somewhat of “chin scratching” session… but I cannot imagine it would be a backwards step.

Ah ok. The phono stage I was thinking of is the BPS. I suspect the vps can’t runoff that battery as those tubes take some current. (Btw, I owned a vps for >10 years it’s a killer phono stage. I had a PLL then a classic preamp and now HD pre.

You’ll find a great bump in performance with a mps for your jazz and vps !
