Nagra REFERENCE Amp

@Zeotrope Curious if you got your Ref amp and pre yet? My dealer ordered the Ref amps, so I'll get to hear them side by side vs my HD. Pretty sure I know the answer though :). I am planning on upgrading my HD Pre to Ref first...

Also getting curious on the Ref DAC vs my Vivaldi....

Hi. No, not yet. They were supposed to ship a week or so ago, but I’m told that they will now ship next week. Apparently, assembly and testing is taking a bit longer than anticipated.
I am using the HD DAC X with a Taiko Extreme. I’ll ask what it costs to upgrade to the REF DAC; but will try to refrain from spending more money ;).
Let me know what you think when you hear the REF amps next to the HD.

I have seen specs but don’t think I’m allowed to post until Nagra does. My REF Pre and Amp are arriving next week, hopefully…
Looking forward to your assessment of the Ref Amps. I currently have the HD Amps but ordered the Ref amps and hope to get them in January. As in your case trust Nagra, have been happy with their HD line and Ref TT.

Yes, I'm delighted to share we received our demo unit and are currently the only ones in the USA with such!...
It's sounding great over here right now -- just walked in having played content through the NAGRA REF PREAMP continuously from Thu-Fri and on over weekend, and, well, wow! So natural, so open, right-on in every way imaginable. The immediacy, openness, focus, timing/flow, all of that and more is where things are at right now. Sounds like you've got a lot to be excited about I'd say!

Re the DAC side of things, we represent both NAGRA & dCS. Both are a best in class with their respective offerings. Either of them will be a great choice and coupling in context of integration to an all NAGRA rest of system. Obviously, NAGRA have still yet to release the REF DAC, so there's that to factor in. It will be down to personal preference when that time comes around.

Scottie,
I'd love to hear how it compares to the the HD pre if you had the opportunity to switch back and forth. I'm going to upgrade my HD line asap.

Hi Dave,-- we don't have the NAGRA HD PRE here to do a direct comparison with the all-new REF PRE. However, we're proper right into what the REF PRE is already doing for us several days in I'm glad to share. Things are sounding stupendously good for us here in Brooklyn.

Delighted to announce the next drop is coming soon!...

We'll have the NAGRA REFERENCE ANNIVERSARY TURNTABLE (70th Anniversary Limited Edition) with REFERENCE CARTRIDGE, plus the all-new REFERENCE AMP to partner with the REFERENCE PREAMP, which we've already been enjoying since mid November.

We will also have the REFERENCE PLATTER on hand for REF ANNIV TT when we or a client wish to hear the turntable as a straight-up REF TT.

Get in touch with us direct and set up an appointment to hear/experience the all-new NAGRA REFERENCE system for yourself in our Brooklyn NY listening room. We're in Red Hook down by the water, a destination and neighborhood our clients keep telling us they love to visit.

It's simply the platter that comes standard with the REF TT.

Just to confirm and emphasize, we'll be using the REF ANNIV TT platter as standard/default, but will also have a separate REF TT platter as an option to switch in on occasion.

I’m still confused;)
The Ref Anniversary TT came with a Exium and clear acrylic platter.
The Anniversary TT as I understand it, has an aluminum and Alcantara platter.
Are you saying you have both types?

Yes, both types.

Hi, are the platter types clearly audible? I also wonder if the all exium platter is better than the ref anniversary with the clear acrylic. (although this looks super cool at my dealer!)

Wait- there are 3 platter types?
I thought there are 2:
- Ref Ann: Exium and clear acrylic
- Ref: Aluminum and alcantara

Does Nagra sell the Anniversary platter for Reference (non Anniversay) TT owners?

Once we receive the REF ANNIV TT, plus the additional platter (the platter only!) that’s supplied with the REF TT, we can then listen to and compare both platters to have a better understanding about any audible differences.

Can you even buy the Exium platter? I thought the Ann TT was sold out and they will not make any more Exium platters. Nagra has told me that it’s incredibly difficult to work with Exium.

No, there are two types, the one that comes suppled with the REF TT, and the second that comes with the REF ANNIV TT.

As REF system dealers, we just wanted to have both for internal use, and to simply have appreciation/understanding of both platters, their material differences. Simply that!

We will have the Exium type platter by default as that is what comes supplied with the REF ANNIV TT. We are NOT buying that separate, just to be clear. The Exium type platter only comes with the REF ANNIV TT, which we’d be delighted to present all together in full and make happy any number of clients we can who would want that turntable in their system.

Again, to reiterate, we simply purchased (separately), the REF TT platter to hear it for ourselves, as we anticipate selling the REF TT on an ongoing basis as part of the REF system series of components.

Got it. Do you know how many Anniversary TTs are left? I heard that they are almost sold out.
I don't know. However, we just bought one and will happily sell REF ANNIV TTs, so long as they are available to us. And of course the REF TT we'll sell continuously as a part of the REF components and system line up i.e., continuous availability.
