No...the 468 is a hybrid of the 458 and the old 108 model 1. A dual evolution.

It could also be said a dual retrogress ... :)

I think that the only difference between the 108 v1 and the v2 was the SMTP circuit and some hardware, I have owned both.

As far as I can remember the only known differences between the topology of the 108 and the 458 were the number of transistors in the output stage - one pair in the 108, more than one pair in the 458 and the true balanced input of the 458. Does the 468 have a single pair of output transistors?

Please note I am addressing technical details, not sound quality.

I tend to think you are off track here, but only Herve can say for sure.

Thieliste was at the Zurich show this weekend. I hope to hear what his thoughts were for the rooms there.

Looking forward to your feedback from your visit with Herve....

Hey guys, yes just got back from my Swiss tour and did stop by Geneva to visit Hervé, we did the factory tour, saw 4 pairs of 468s being assembled and an 108 model 1 being upgraded to model 2
In the aftenoon we went to his place to listen to the rig he has in place at the moment with the 18NS, 108 model 2 and the 208 for streaming purpose.
The speakers he is driving at the moment are the https://www.klipsch.com/products/klipschorn-floorstanding-speaker
no really to my taste, would have preferred the Evolution Acoustics MMthree that he has.
The sound was huge just like a live performance, very transparent, fast and a little tubey.
Unfortunately i have found the treble kind of bright and aggressive, i don't know if that came from the speakers or the amp.
Anyway i have to thank Hervé for taking the time to show me his factory and audition his rig with the new 108 model 2.

Finally I sent away boulder 2060
Married dart 108 model two, and combined with the dart 18 mkii.
How wonderful dartzeel music world!!
Regarding the new version of 108, I look a little different in appearance
1> new input board :The original neutrik ntl-1& dc offset comp jumper
are cancelled.( Maybe someone can answer how the new design
replaces the orignal neutrik ntl-1 function ??)
2>The input board and the motherboard are connected with a silver
wire.
3> Add 2s of power transistors.
4>The new wbt0763 binding posts(why does not use the high level
0730 or even 0702 ).
5>. The fuse has been cancelled and changed into a large
recoverable type at the back side.
6>Cancelled 115v/230v switch.

Interesting, and congrats! So, did you upgrade a Model 1 to Model 2? Could you comment on the sound difference in addition to these physical differences?

Enjoy!

So 2 pairs of output transistors? Has it retained the 4/8 ohm switch? Can it finally drive low impedance speakers?
The switch on the 108B SCNP is for speakers of 2.5ohm or lower. Anything above 3 ohms uses the same switch setting. Now, I don't know how much juice it has at 2 ohms but I think less than at 4 ohms.

Thank you!

I would be very curious if anyone has ever compared sq between the two switch positions. Either on model 2 or model 1.

"So 2 pairs of output transistors"
This is OK for "Upgrade" or version MKII
Since this amp is heavily based on REVOX A 740 amplifier (year 1983 !)
and original ( REVOX A 740 ) had 3 pairs output transistors , I think
new version of DartZeel MK III amplifier will be with 3 pairs output transistors too
So you can drive as low as 2 Ohm speakers
enclosed schematic for Revox A 740 amplifier
