The 2K14 version (which has him on the cover) will add several features like 'Legal Traveling', 'I Don't Foul Out' and 'Sprinting to the Other End of the Court to Protest a Call & Don't You Refs Dare Call a "T" on Me' (Cuz I'm The King and I Ain't Do Nothin'). :D

It's good to see that not only is Brian Shaw being considered for head coach finally this year but that he also has 2-3 options.....unfortunately not the Lakers

The Cowboys have their owner/GM pulling them down .. The Lakers have micro-Buss .. Results will be the same :( maybe Kuptchak would be the difference ..My hopes are low

As for Lebron gamepad would apply to Lebron V.2010. Lebron V.2012 and 2013 are an unstoppable force ... If the Heat don't win it won't be because of his lack of stellar play but of the limits of small ball when playing with teams with a true big man in the middle and the reduced effectiveness or D-Wade. Let's admit it although reluctantly if needs be, He is one of the best players the game of Basketball has ever seen ... I am still not over the decision and still hate the Heat but ...

By the way Tim Duncanis so good as to make it boring. The main is fundamental beyond belief after all these years .. Still no flash... Still not much of a story, still no spectacular plays .. Simply great fundamental basketball game in and out, a clinic on how to play the low post and if you really want to enjoy the game at an intricate level watch his footwork when he gets the ball in the low post, few big man are so clean in term of footwork ... No wonder he is "The Big Fundamental"

And I really look forward to the day that teams with good 'bigs' get to turn the tables on Riley's vision of a smaller team. Riley, in my recollection kinda changed the normal style of the game, from 'showtime' with the Lakers to the 'ugly ball' of the Knicks which he managed to turn into a Finals team with 'lesser names' like Starks and Mason in the first five, and now this 'small ball' which has bagged him a title already. Dallas' Chandler & Dirk worked well then. Now it's time Duncan and Splitter to control the inside.

On another note, this Spurs team presents too a tightly bonded Big 3 that loved to play and win for each other in the mold of the Heat's Big 3 joining hands 3 years ago. The desire to win is right up there with the Heat. And this may be their best chance to get another title given the 'age' of Duncan, I'm sure they don't want to spend another year to get it. And I just love the pep talk of coach Pop. It's much better than his halftime interviews with Doris Burke. :D My favorite: Doris: 'Coach, during the first quarter, what can you say about the blah blah blah blah......' Coach Pop: "DEFENSE". Doris: "But in spite of that, the other team still blah blah blah blah blah...What adjustment do you intend to do?" Coach Pop: "DEFENSE". Doris: 'Thanks Coach'. :D

Trivia time, while we await the all-important Game 2 for the Spurs. The Spurs have 3 French nationals, 1 Argentinian, 1 Brazilian, 1 from the US Virgin Islands, and a few from the continental USA. :) The Heat have 1 alien - Birdman, and the rest are continentals. :D

LeBron's practices in case Stern approves a 5 point shot at midcourt. :D

Pops is as boring an interview as the Big Fundamental ... :)

I believe Mario Chalmers is of Haitian descent at least ... as for the Birdman , great one ... :D

What you don't know is they practice that shot :) After practice, the guys will lay down a $100 or so on the court and bet on who can make a half court shot :)

And here's Pop in one of his more humorous interviews.

Lionel Hollins out as Memphis Grizzlies coach

MEMPHIS (AP) -- The Memphis Grizzlies have decided to part with the winningest coach in the franchise's history, telling Lionel Hollins they will not be renewing his contract as head coach coming off their first trip to the Western Conference finals.

Hollins confirmed Monday night to The Associated Press that he had been told his contract would not be renewed. He had no further comment.
The Commercial Appeal first cited anonymous sources that Hollins had been told he would not be back as the Grizzlies' head coach. WMC-TV in Memphis first reported Hollins said his contract would not be renewed before thanking former Grizzlies owner Michael Heisley for giving him the opportunity to be head coach and Memphis fans for their support.
The move finally came after Hollins attended each of the Grizzlies' first three pre-draft workouts, including the third session Monday.
Hollins' contract had been set to expire June 30, but the Grizzlies issued a statement Monday night saying that Hollins is no longer with the organization. Jason Levien, chief executive officer and managing partner of the Grizzlies, said they decided after talks with Hollins and his agent to go in a different direction and thanked the veteran coach for his work with the franchise since its start in Vancouver.
"Lionel, the coaching staff, the players and the organization achieved new heights this season with our run to the Western Conference finals and for that, we are grateful," Levien said in his statement. "The entire Grizzlies' family wishes Lionel all the best and great success as he moves forward in his career."
Hollins, who won an NBA title as a player with Portland in 1977, had been with this franchise for 10 of its first 12 seasons and was the interim head coach first in 1999-00 when he replaced Brian Hill after a 4-18 start in Vancouver and again for four games in 2004-05 after Hubie Brown resigned. Heisley hired Hollins after firing Marc Iavaroni in January 2009, and he is 214-201 overall and 18-17 in the playoffs.
His future with the team has been unsettled since the Spurs swept the Grizzlies in the West finals. He led Memphis to a better record each season, including a franchise-best 56-26 record this season. The Grizzlies beat first the Clippers, then top-seeded Oklahoma City in the playoffs.
Hollins said a day after the Grizzlies were swept that he wanted to stay in Memphis. But now Hollins is expected to interview with the Clippers and the Denver Nuggets later this week.
New ownership led by Robert Pera, a California tech billionaire, took over the Grizzlies in November, and Pera put in Levien in charge. Levien made some changes in the front office, bringing in former ESPN.com writer John Hollinger as vice president of basketball operations and Stu Lash as director of player personnel and basketball development in December.
But Hollins had lobbied against trading leading scorer Rudy Gay away, wanting to keep together the core of starters that turned in the NBA's best start this season. Memphis traded Gay to Toronto on Jan. 30 as part of a three-team trade, and Hollins talked of not being able to have "champagne taste" on a beer budget before refocusing the Grizzlies on a stretch run that was the league's best after the All-Star break at 23-8.
Under Hollins, the Grizzlies also featured one of the NBA's best defenses. Memphis allowed the fewest points per game this season with the 89.3 points the first time since 2005-06 that a team had held opponents below 90 points for an entire season. The Grizzlies also ranked third holding opponents to 43.5 percent shooting and a league-best 33.5 percent made field goals a game.
The candidates to replace Hollins include Grizzlies assistant Dave Joerger and George Karl, fired last week by the Nuggets. Lash was hired away from Denver where he had spent five seasons working on draft analysis and scouting.
"We have begun to identify our next head coach, who we feel can best move us forward," Levien said.

Clippers started interviewing today with Brian Shaw. Byron Scott on Tuesday, Lionel Hollins on Wednesday and Nate McMillan on Thursday. No word on George Karl.

I'm starting to lean towards B Shaw.

that's a lot of 'free' coaches to choose from. read that doc might even call it a day with the c's. that will put the whole franchise in a big question mark given that pierce and kg may not return too. ainge will have lots of money to rebuild.

and i am beginning to see a great coach is a coach who can exact, or even extract a great D from his players. i can think of doc, thibodeau, pop, and riley/spo, among others.

Just a thought, after all these years, despite Lebron's fantastic long range feat, he has refused to join in a 3 point shootout. Is he really that scared of losing? Or a philosophy of not losing=winning?
