New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Oden's 2 handed push at Blake's chest while midway for a dunk not a flagrant?? Gee...the ball was way up there.

Could be a nice Finals if ever. Blake vs James. 2 very strong and athletic players.

It's not going to happen this year

I agree. Don't think that Miami will win the East. :D

Looking forward to that re the Heat. :D

Wishing thinking but I hope Doc gets to tweak his lineup after the trade deadline, get some microwave type veterans who could do some damage for a few minutes, and let CP3 and Blake run the show. The core players of the Clippers can play long minutes, and that is Doc's style, he likes to put in trusted players and sits the ill-performers. BTW, heard that they may be looking to trade Jared Dudley.

Lot of Clipper fans are down on Dudley - think he is too slow, poor defender. His shot has not been falling for him either. Truth is he's been playing hurt so I wouldn't give up on him yet.

If they do try to trade him I'm not sure what his value would be. Clippers need backup bigs - Mullins and Hollins are not getting the job done.

Hedo Turkoglu has been better than I expected so props to Doc for picking him up.

Could it get any worse for the Lakers. Yesterday they finished the game with only 4 players (but won) and now Nick Young has a non displaced patellar fracture and will be out 2 weeks as will Jody Meeks. How do you spell L-O-T-T-E-R-Y :)

4 players? I've never seen that before.

As for the lottery, I've been monitoring the standings FROM THE BOTTOM. :D The ones on top are not that exciting for me at this point. :D And, much to my confusion, I read that only the 3 worst teams are in the lottery, to pick the first 3 picks. I thought it was 7 or 8. The 4th picks to the 30th are picked on end of season standings. Well, Danny Ainge, tank for the 4th if you can't get any better. :D

And did I hear that right from the highlights of the LAL Cleveland game? Robert Sacre, the 5th eligible player on the court for LA, fouls out but WAS allowed to play? Because you can't play with 4 players. :D Wow, this is new to me. And each succeeding foul on Sacre will result in a technical foul. That's an eye opener to this NBA fan. :D

Back to the Clippers game, I heard a commentator saying the Blake Griffin has been taking a lot of hard, physical abuse from opponents, some with calls some no calls. That was after the Oden push when Blake was high up in the air who no intent from Oden to block the ball. My son, who is a Blake fan confirms this from watching past games of the Clippers. I wonder what's with the officials, Blake's career could be in danger.

I wonder if LA now has the record for having the longest list of injured players in one season.

And what's happening in Cleveland? They had 4 top picks in the last few years and now are still heading to the bottom, worse than Boston and LAL. Guess Lebron ain't headin' home anymore. :D

Aren't they having injury issues too?

I'm starting to think that across the league, training regimens are exceeding what the trainees can handle for long term health. A physical therapist told me that with modern techniques strength gains can come faster than the ligaments can catch up to so regimens have to be very carefully planned and monitored. Now what does a trainer do when his trainee just won't stop?

Well Jack, as of the Cavs latest loss to a technically 4-man Lakers squad, they were virtually intact and all played. Irving, Waiters, Thompson, Bennett (top 4 past picks) plus Deng, CJ Miles, Jarrett Jack were all there and scored some but lost to a severely depleted Lakers squad. And they have a chance too at Jabari, Wiggins and Embiid this coming draft. Talk about waste of talent. Apparently Mike Brown's return isn't helping.

Yeah, I agree, there is something to look at at those training regimens. I look at the 70s and those stars were like iron men. Willis Reed was the most famous, I guess. :D And today's stars are supposed to be more athletic than those in the past.

It's seems the athleticism required in today's game is coming at the price of longevity. I'd hate to see these guys get shorter and shorter careers. Well, at least it isn't the NFL where 5 years is a rarity.

Still no 'you-know-who' who claims to sit on the throne. :D Hey Magic, up the ante a little for the guy to dunk before it's too late or he's too old. :D

Paul George AP

We let you know last night that Damian Lillard said he was in for the dunk contest (and maybe much more).

He’s not the only star. Multiple reports (including Yahoo, CSNWashington.com and ESPN) have given us what we expect to be the six-man dunk contest field:

Paul George (Indiana Pacers)
Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers)
John Wall (Washington Wizards)
Terrence Ross (Toronto Raptors)
Harrison Barnes (Golden State Warriors)
Ben McLemore (Sacramento Kings)

The official announcement comes from TNT’s Inside the NBA at 7 ET, but you can bet on this being the six.

Some star power is back to the event — three guys from the All-Star Game are in the contest. Last year’s contest was filled with guys known for high flying dunks but not known to the casual fan and the event fell on its face for the most part. That is with all due respect to Ross, who won the event and is back to defend his crown.

George is your early favorite — he has competed in the contest before and that plus his popularity (don’t think that doesn’t factor into it) make him a tough guy to beat. Ross is a close second.

Mike Brown. Couldn't coach a decent offense even with Lebron running the show.

And Jack, forgot you were a Pacers fan -- what's your connection to that franchise?

this time the Cavs fired their GM rather than Mike Brown

Yeah, though I thought Ferry should have been fired for never making a big move while having Lebron. Was gutless.

I just loved watching them against the Knicks in the 90s. I was a big Chris Mullins fan too so when he went over and played with Reggie, that was that. Then they just crashed down with that Meta World Peace fiasco and there really wasn't much to cheer for. Last year however, BOY was I a happy guy. I hope I'll be even happier this one!
