New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Pau Gasol seems to have been reborn with the Bulls. 19 points in the first half and playing like I've never seen him before. He also seems to have gotten beefier.

Finally free from the Baby Buss Curse, Pau Gasol joins Howard, Blake and even Ariza in ………………

IMO Lakers were smart to let go to FA. At the end of his career he might serve the Bulls well for what they need but the Lakers even though suffering freed up a lot of cap space

Problem was the Lakers didn't treat Pau Gasol with any respect his last two years there. He and D'Antoni didn't see eye to eye.

I always thought Pau Gasol was a class act on and off the court.

He did and yes he was

He didn't fit D'Antoni's fast style of play

Kobe was his only advocate

I remember me and my non laker fan friend were screaming the sky was falling on our teams when Gasol was traded by Memphis to L A. We even screamed conspiracy with Jerry west behind the trade. :D Gasol and Bynum were true twin towers who proceeded to help Kobe get 2 rings.

The Lakers always came up with some sweetheart deals of one sort or another....until David Stern overturned the unbalanced trade for Chris Paul.

Clippers then swooped in to pick up Chris.

After all of the crazy deals that went in the Lakers favor, Laker fans are still howling about the Chris Paul trade.

And I think that only reason why Stern vetoed the NO-LAL trade was because the league owned NO at that time (under receivership of sorts), but other than that, had NO been in regular ownership, the trade would go on, however unbalanced it might have seemed, as I don't recall a deal that was vetoed due to supposedly 'unbalanced-ness'.

Dallas blew out the Sixers by 53 points tonight. Philly continues to tank this early. What caught my attention was somebody commented on the shoutbox that Dallas used 13 players in this game and they all scored. Erstwhile, it is thought that only 12 players can play in a game.

That's correct. Dell Demps, New Orleans GM, wanted to do the trade but David Stern, acting as the owner (team was under NBA control) declined to do the deal.

So Dirk passes The Dream. Looks like Kobe will pass Air Jordan this year too as he's less tha 400 pts behind. At the rate he's going Kobe could do it in 16 games. Thoughts?

how could he not pass Jordan in that time

If the Kings figure out how to not squander leads, this team could be a major dark horse.

Match-up lucky?

That kind of intensity doesn't look sustainable to me. On the bright side, Vogel is in a position where he has no choice but to let his players play. I blame last year on him. The guy's rotations were just too stagnant and predictable. He ran 7 players ragged. Not as bad as D'Antony though. That guy ran ALL his players ragged!

I always like to see coaches play newer guys on the bench, to develop their confidence. Vogel did a Doc last year, Jack, and Pacers burned themselves out in the 2nd half of the season. Pop gets criticized for sitting his Big 3 on back to back games but those times, he plays his bench and eventually some get to contribute as the season winds down and provide good respite for the starters come crunch time.

And talking bout D'Antoni running all his players ragged, I am reminded of Rick Pitino doing that to the C's when he came in. So much so that a veteran player (forgot his name) wanted out of the team when Pitino traded for him even before the season started. Reason was that he didn't want to shorten his career in Pitino's ragged style. :D
