New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

It proves that the game is only over when the fat lady sings. Unbelievable collapse by the Clipps who gave up a 19 point lead and lost pathetically at the end . I was just about to move my preferences from the Lakers to the Clipps as they were totally humiliating the Rockets but just like game 5 the Clipps just imploded. After these two embarrassing losses are they the best in the west?

Bring on Game 7

Steve, that is the big question now. That fourth quarter collapse was a nightmare of sorts for Doc and the players. I was imagining momentum shifting to the Rockets if there was a Game 7 but I never expected it to come in this manner. And to add more insult to injury, Clips lost it with Harden on the bench 99% of the 4th when the comeback happened. Perhaps the toll on the heavy minutes of the Clips starters is setting in, and the contribution of Doc's bench was minimal, no more magic game from Austin who did only 5 points, and quick trigger Crawford had only 9 points. Do they have any gas left for Game 7? More importantly, would their confidence be restored? One thing positive that Doc can tell the players is that they won Game 7 on the road against the Spurs, though Houston's fans will be there rocking, complete with Clyde and maybe Hakeem. :)

Phil

IMO you hit it right on the head. The Clipps play their guts out at an unstoppable pace for the first 3 periods and I think they run out of gas

Even if and I say "even" if the Clipps win game 7 (which is in Houston) I can't see them getting by either GSW or the Grizz

What a game in Washington as Pierce nails a three pointer a nanosecond after the buzzer which would have tied at 94-94. Basket disallowed. Final 94-91

So Atlanta vs Cleveland coming up

Atlanta beat Cleveland 3 out of 4 this season

It's an incredible run of last seconds tres by Pierce. Unfortunately, he missed his by like 0.1 of a second. I feel Atlanta is the better team, more fluid on offense and good defense. Who they are going to put on LeBron is the question. And once again, Kyle Korver, like what he did in the Bulls/Heat playoffs a few years ago, totally has the lid of the basket shut on him. That is really puzzling, why he is so hot in the arc during the regular season and can't convert in the playoffs. But I am hoping the lid gets opened up with the Cavs series, they need his points.

GSW lead from buzzer to buzzer. It wasn't even close

I can't see Rockets or Clipps beating the Warriors.

Good on them. It's been a long time since they are in the conference finals

Has a rookie coach in any major sport won the league championship?

Kerr could be the first

Can James shut down Curry in a Cleveland -Golden state Finals? I'd like to see that now that Blake on James is in peril. :D

And now for some non-playoff news. Trouble in the Big Apple.

Knicks president Phil Jackson 'not happy' about Isiah Thomas' return to the Garden

James Dolan's decision to bring Isiah Thomas back to Madison Square Garden does not sit well with Dolan’s highest-paid basketball executive, Phil Jackson.

According to a team source, Jackson has expressed concern over Thomas’ presence at the Garden, further fueling speculation over Jackson’s future with the Knicks and whether Thomas could be in line to eventually replace Jackson as Knicks president.

“He’s not happy about it but what can he do about it?” said one Garden official, who requested anonymity. “This is just the start of it.”

The WNBA’s Liberty opens training camp on Sunday at the Westchester training facility that the team shares with the Knicks and Rangers. Thomas, who last week was appointed president and given a small ownership stake in the team, is expected to be in attendance.

The WNBA Board of Governors has yet to approve Thomas’ ownership, and a person familiar with the process believes it will be rejected. It will be interesting to see how Dolan will respond if the Board of Governors denies his attempt to make Thomas a minority owner. However, Thomas will likely remain as team president, a title that has caused uproar among fans, WNBA coaches and women’s advocacy groups in the wake of Thomas’ role in a high-profile sexual harassment case against the Garden and Thomas in 2007, when he was president of the Knicks.

“This is a decision, at least to me, (that) comes out of left field,” Connecticut Sun coach Anne Donovan, a former Liberty head coach and assistant, told the Hartford Courant. “Bring him back to MSG? OK. But how do you pin (Thomas) to the women's pro team?”

Dolan has made it clear that he values Thomas as a friend and basketball mind, and the timing of Thomas' hiring happens to coincide with the Knicks facing the most important offseason of the last 25 years. Jackson has little experience when it comes to running the draft and free agency, and the feeling is that Dolan will again use Thomas as a consultant.

“He’s an excellent judge of talent and I’m confident that he will put all of his energy and experience into making the Liberty a perennially competitive and successful team,” Dolan said in a statement last week.

Thomas has insisted that he will not have a role with the Knicks, yet league executives who have a history with the Hall of Fame point guard are convinced that Thomas accepted the job with the Liberty as an entry-level position to eventually return to the Knicks.

Jackson, who did not return email messages, is entering the second season of a five-year contract that includes an option after this season. Jackson turns 70 in September, and the odds of him lasting until the final year of his contract seem remote.

This season, Jackson’s first full campaign as Knicks president, the team finished a franchise-worst 17-65. The Knicks will have a high draft choice and salary-cap space to pursue free agents. The NBA draft lottery is Tuesday in Manhattan, and it has already been announced that Jackson will not sit on the dais for the ceremony. Instead it will be Knicks general manager Steve Mills.

How much influence, if any, Thomas has this offseason is a mystery. He wasn’t employed by the club in 2010 when then-team president Donnie Walsh was forced to read a prepared statement in which he credited Thomas for helping the Knicks sign free agent Amar’e Stoudemire. Dolan also sent Thomas to Ohio in a last-ditch effort to convince LeBron James to sign with the Knicks.

The Daily News reported last month that Jackson is targeting Detroit free agent forward Greg Monroe, but those plans could be altered by Thomas' presence. Monroe is represented by David Falk, the agent for Michael Jordan, who has had a three-decade-old feud with Thomas.

When Thomas first joined the Knicks, he traded Falk’s client Keith Van Horn within seven weeks. Falk then warned another client, Dikembe Mutombo, not to be surprised if Thomas traded him.

The NBA draft could be a defining moment for the Jackson regime. If the Knicks have either the first or second pick, Jackson would be position to draft either Duke’s Jahlil Okafor or Kentucky’s Karl-Anthony Towns. However, if the Knicks finish with the third, fourth or fifth choice there is no telling which way Jackson may go.

There was a report on Friday that Jackson may consider trading down to draft Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky. That’s the type of move that Jackson may have to run past Dolan first. Dolan could then ask his adviser, Thomas, for his thoughts.

And that’s precisely what Jackson didn’t sign up for.

I'll take Towns to Okafor. Who's in the running for the first two picks?

The game ain't over but I'm afraid the fat lady has sung. Up as many as 20 but with 9:12 remaining in the 4th the Rockets are in control with a comfortable 90-74 lead. If it weren't for Chris Paul the Rockets would be up much more. Something has to change with the Clipps. No killer instinct. Dumb play by DJ as he misses a huge tomahawk dunk rather than just making the basket when they are down by as much as this

Brigioni is amazing on both sides of the court. Josh Smith as well. Good trades by the Rockets to close out the year.

It'll be good to see the 1 and 2 in the MVP race play against one another

Yes, it appears the Clippers season is over - very disappointing conclusion.

It will be interesting to see what changes Steve Ballmer makes in the offseason.

i think Curry will destroy Harden.

This is a hard series to watch for me, Doc vs. McHale. For Game 7, my heart went with Doc. But sad to say, Doc run into the same predicament he had with the Heat, his starters run out of gas. Suddenly the Clips became a 1-man team, all Chris Paul. Redick passed up an open shot and gave it to Paul who reluctantly heaves it up and missed. This is so so far from the play of the Clips against the Spurs in Game 7. The momentum and the morale have greatly turned to the Rockets' favor, who came down from 1-3 to be in this stage of facing the Warriors. Yes, fitting to see the No. 1 vs the No. 2 seed. And this is happening for both East and West. Bring on the Final 4! :)

Rockets now has a good bench, Prigioni, Jones and Brewer to counter with Igoudala, Livingston and David Lee. We probably won't see Hack a Howard here because it would derail the flow of the fast paced Warriors offense. An important factor is the championship pedigree of Trevor Ariza who is good on both ends. Harden and Curry would score high so that team that brings down their outputs to the low 20s stand a good chance to win their games. The Rockets seem to have accidentally found a new fountain of life after being down 1-3 in the series.

Wow.

Warriors favored over Cavs in Vegas to win NBA championship
57m - NBA Golden State Warriors +3 more

David Purdum, ESPN.com

The Golden State Warriors have emerged as the odds-on favorites to win the NBA title.

Heading into the conference finals, the Warriors are 4-7 favorites to win the championship at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The Cleveland Cavaliers are next at 5-2, followed by the Atlanta Hawks at 8-1, and the Houston Rockets at 12-1.

Golden State is a giant minus-1,100 favorite to eliminate the Rockets in the Western Conference finals, which tip off Tuesday (9 p.m., ESPN) at Oracle Arena. The underdog Rockets are plus-700 to pull off the upset.

The Warriors are 10-point favorites in Game 1 and defeated Houston in all four meetings this season by an average margin of 12.75 points. But the Rockets have proven to be a dangerous out.

Trailing the Clippers 3-1 in a best-of-seven series, Houston was 60-1 to win the NBA title at the SuperBook. The book took one bet on the Rockets at that price, one $1,000 bet.

In Game 7 on Sunday, the Rockets were 2.5-point home underdogs to the Clippers. An hour before the game, the SuperBook reported that 82 percent of the money wagered on Game 7 was on Los Angeles. Houston won 113-100.

In Game 6, the Clippers led by 19 late in the third quarter and were minus-7,500 to win the game at one point in live betting at William Hill's Nevada sport book. One bettor risked $488.90 to win $6.52 on the Clippers prevailing and lost. The Rockets outscored the Clippers 40-15 in the fourth quarter and won 119-107.

In the Eastern Conference finals, the Cavaliers are minus-210 favorites over the Hawks, who own home-court advantage. Atlanta is a 1-point favorite over Cleveland in Game 1 on Wednesday at Philips Arena. Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving (left knee tendinitis, strained right foot) is questionable for Game 1.

Warriors came back from a 16 point eficit to take a 3 point halftime lead. Glad to see former Clipper Shaun Livingston performing well for Golden State.

Is Howard injured? Saw him with a wrap on his knee.

Not sure who to root for in this series - GSW I suppose.

I will be rooting for Cleveland in the East. Not a LeBron fan boy but Cleveand hasn't won a pro sports championship since 1964. So, since I am an Ohio native, have to support the Cavaliers. They were my NBA team back in my college days.

Howard got his knee banged early in the first. He came back, but so far, has not contributed much.

Wow, Lakers will pick No.2 in the draft. Wolves get the 1st pick to team with Wiggins. What a nice future for the Wolves.
