I have looked at both the LG C8 and the Sony AF8 and AF9. I think it really is personal preference. I like the Sony better and FWIW, I like the AF8 better than the AF9. The AF9 is brighter but at the expense of some picture quality IMO. So in my mind, the AF8 is just a smoking deal right now. The Sony looks the most like my Plasma and that is the look I am used to for many years.

I like the design of the Sony AF8.

If it would have been the same price as the LG C8 I would have bought it.
But @ the time I bought the C8 the AF8 was $1,000 more (Canada).

The C8 is super affordable in the US.

The new C9 and AF9 are newer models so they cost considerably more.

All those OLED models are top notch.

Five years from now, or even before we'll be buying better TVs still...MicroLED 8K. :)

So, TVs get better every year, and less expensive. What else is new?

Well, here in Canada we also have Panasonic OLED TVs, and they are very good too.
Five years ago you couldn't by a 65" OLED for less than two grands.

I just don't know for how many more years OLED will still retain its King's crown of TVs.
Looking @ the top 12 above it makes no doubt that OLED are the Kings & Queens.
QLED is a distant second starting @ position # 9 and #12
LED is going the way of the dodo (from that chart) but not in the financial real fact of life.

3D is dodo in TVs.

* Next year I'm starting a brand new TV thread/trend . . . 8K HDR.
There are few reviews already, and compared to 4K. There's no doubt we are going ahead on that ship. The upscaling to 8K alone is beneficial. The price less so.

I may have looked at the LG C9 a little more if the TV was going into a cinema only situation. The Sony upscales very well and is very good at dealing with motion.
