What happened? I thought he was relatively young.

Wow...i am stunned and quite saddened. He was truly one of the most gifted speaker designers whose aesthetic (visual and aural) inspired a generation of speakers. One could clearly point to Gryphon, Krell (who both openly received licenses to use his silk string grilles), possibly even Magico as having taken some form of inspiration from his shapes, his finishings, his incredible sense of blending the concept of instrument with the concept of transducer.

He designed speakers for all time...the Minima, the Electa Amator, the Extrema, the Guarneri and the Stradivari and of course his latest Ktema...who of us can forget these once we have heard them? References in all respects, love them, deeply respect them, references by any measure. A glass raised to toast a man of true gifts who gave us greatness.

Has anyone actually confirmed this? I can't find anything else on the Internet besides this same picture on a couple of forums stating he died.

I've read about it yesterday in the Italian forum Videohifi.com, the news was posted by an industry affiliated people. Very sad news indeed.

I'm new to this forum and just noticed this thread.

I was saddened to read of the passing of Franco Serblin. R.I.P. and thank you for making it possible for me to have found a pair of speakers that I've enjoyed listening to for over 20 years.
