The Jeton label is the one you want. Actually, there is a lot of Jeton that is quite excellent. Some of the best D2D

Here's one that is phenomenal- if you don't have it
Run out and get it.......:) You'll thank me later.

then why did Clearaudio pay Jeton for the rights to do a tape transfer from the dtd to press more Lp's?

and those do not sound very good.
clearaudio played the a1 cut lp with the insider cartridge and made r2r copy. you can hear the difference very clearly to the direct to disc lp. I would buy an lp and be happy . at discogs there are 13 pieces available.

i've got all the Jeton's. agree they all sound great. but on some the music is....well.....more sound than music.

i first recommended the Jeton dtd in a playlist on WBF 10 years ago in 2013.

Once again we see the down side of speaking in the absolute. By nature, direct to disc is a limited edition. To avoid having to copy a DTD pressing to tape it is a good idea to simutaneously make a master tape. So when, for example, Sheffield sold out of Thema Houston- I Have got the Music in Me- he could then make a pressing from the tape version. I imagine some were not as forward thinking.

It may not seem like it at first blush, but I think there are are some significant design similarities between the Balance and AS-2000:

-- ethos of simplicity

-- belt drive

-- no suspension

-- mass based platter (different weight and scale, of course)

-- tonearm pods are anchored to plinth

-- motor sits separately

-- no servo control of motor

-- high machining/finishing quality
Perfect match Nottingham Mentor
120lbs mass, platter 75lbs and ac motor

The Brinkmann Balance 2 Arm turntable, arm-boards and power supply will be delivered in a couple of weeks, about the same time the tonearms are expected to arrive. So this turntable project is moving a lot faster than I anticipated.

The HRS platform has not even arrived. And I have no place to put the HRS platform except on the carpeted floor, which is not ideal. I don't think the Pangea Vulcan stand would be sturdy enough.

This is why -- in an ideal world -- none of us should ever throw anything out. My discarded but very heavy duty former turntable stand would come in handy right now.

Ron,

from my experience, the HRS platform will boost Balance performance noticeably, don’t give up on it.

Oh, I definitely am looking forward to receiving the HRS platform.

In what ways did the HRS platform change the sound for you?

Will this fix the 50-60hz issue?

Nothing will fix it completely, but the third AVAA should make another incremental step in that direction.

like I said…build a metal frame for a 100 or so into the wall and place the BB on it.

I installed the third AVAA today, thanks to Jason Hanan, of Pro Audio LA, delivering it to me today himself. Jason arrived right after Gary Leeds arrived for his first visit.

Every time I thought I heard the telltale room boom from a double bass, they both said "nope, that is what a double bass sounds like."

I know I still should move the woofer towers around to mitigate naturally the room modes, but these AVAAs are quite effective, and I think three provide good efficacy in my room. It's pretty cool to have a device like this that you plug-in, and it does its thing, and it ameliorates an acoustic issue like a room node.

I now consider the room boom issues substantially vanquished.
