I was just using the bias setting as an example. They used a more powerful 300B (XLS), which can deliver more output power, so 20 volts is usually 15 volts. It's fine, you didn't understand why I did that. I don't know of any other company with such a bias setting. I'll leave the topic.
I actually did not mean anything negative towards your comments. No need to be so sensitive imho

Why would this be?

1) I assume PF100 is substantially the same as 845 Mono but with twice the number of output tubes.

2) Normally fewer output devices results in better sound -- at least more purity, transparency. It is the cost one pays for a higher output.

Why would 4 x 845 sound better than 2 x 845?
The PFF uses different, gold plated boards, I guess that plays a role.
I can only comments with the speakers (82-87 db sens) that I ve used both the PFF 100 and the Evo Integrated 845 that I ve bought and used as a stereo amp. May be the power factor would be a less of a factor with horns or other high sensitivity speakers , however the PFF 100 seemed in a different league than a single stereo MS unit. Have not tried 2x845 monoblocks in my system.

For my part I would be faintly interested in your considerations with regard to Brad’s audio link Ron , In that you must have quite an adroit grasp on how the Clarisys planars perform in your system by now … Standard YouTube caveats naturally .

This does sound good but we don't have the original track to compare to (as far as I can tell).

On some of his other videos YouTube provides a link in the video description, which makes it easy to compare.

I understand why some compare system videos to YouTube files. It is straight forward and pretty direct. One can also judge quality by referencing actual music. If it sounds good, it sounds good. I guess it comes down to one’s target and goals.

Thank you Brad, Argonaut, Hopkins. Videos in this context don't work for me, so I have no comments on the sound in
the videos

Here we go again....

It can "sound good" but you can still have doubts about some aspects, especially with system videos.

Even when listening to a system "live" you don't always know what's due to the recording or the system, and no system is perfect. Moreover, reference to actual music is too vague.

On my thread I mentioned listening to this system (which coincidentally also uses Aries Cerat electronics):

I enjoyed it, but when I got home I listened to a few tracks again (both on hedaphones and on my speaker). On one specific track - the theme to "The Ipcress File" - John Barry uses a Cimbalom. Have you ever heard one? I had not. I wanted to see how it sounded through my headphones. Sue me...

The point of the videos in this context was to demonstrate that high powered amps, SET or otherwise, are not needed…just really good amps. I think the videos adequately demonstrate the dynamics, bass control and punch the speakers deliver with the Essentias. It was the same context for my posting the video in Thundersnows thread.

Duke Ellington's Rule: "If it sounds good it is good."
Ugh, sue me again for using the words "sounds good". Does everything have to be black and white? On that specific video that Morricab published you hear some nice things - happy? or you and PeterA want to have another go at explaining why I'm an idiot for comparing a video to a track?

No more litigation of videos here, please.

Deep breath Hopkins…deep breath…
