Sony's new full-frame cameras with compatibility of Canon, Nikon, etc. lenses!

Stunning! These guys really know what they're doing! Good equipment...in the hands of serious professionals. I have no doubt left to me, the photos would not look like that, no matter what camera you gave me! Still...it is nice to see what the camera is capable of. Very special.

I often wonder whether with limited skill (ie, like for like), whether the better camera is going to produce better results.

I surely think you or me will get better results with a better tool /camera .
Not as good as the guy in the vid off course who has years of expirience in taking / composing shots and probably has done a photography orientated study.

Medium format like phase one has a big downside off course being big and heavy , slow handling / focus and expensive .
But The Fujifilm GFX 50 R or S or 100 S is a nice compromise , basically the weight and dimensions of a DSLR / large mirrorless camera and good handling

Not only that. Production photography and hand-held, fast paced photography differ a lot when it comes to the ancillary equipment you need (high mass tripods, remote strobe lights, reflectors…).
Hence my original comment: for travel, action/kids or low light I would not change my camera with any medium format one.
True too! In our case, we do like carrying the bag for that 'one shot' which goes up on the wall...5 feet to 6 feet wide. But it still requires carrying so perhaps keeping life simple makes the most sense as you suggest.

I just made an offer on a second hand Phase one XF body with a schneider Kreuznach 80 mm F2.8 blue ring lens .
It has a dated IQ 1 50 mpx digital back but these you can always upgrade as its a modular system .
I hope im getting it .
I ve studied a lot of pics but phase one is just another level ( colour / detail )even when the pics are taken with an older digital

Whoa!!! Congratulations! That is super exciting! I am still reading up as a complete novice...looks like it is capable of tremendous images. Look forward to seeing your first few shots! Would be particularly intrigued to see one of your SLRs with same settings vs this one just to see what the intrinsic capability of the camera is. Fun! Enjoy!

I ll post some pics tomorrow .
But damn this thing is slow and heavy ,solid alu alloy no plastics here , its more a studiotool really .
Extremely solid industrial / professional built quality
But the price was so good i couldn t leave it , i reckon i could get a good profit if i put it on ebay

Great! Enjoy! Look forward to the pics.

I m having trouble to resize the Phase one raw files to forum acceptable size .
Plus i m puzzled by the phase one performance
The pic you see below is from my bike .
At the bottom of the derailler you can read " exact actuation" , with the Sony 24 MP Leica 50 mm F2 Summichron i can just zoom in endlessly and read it without problems .
Not with the Phase one , i just cant read it clear no matter how much i zoom in .
The colours are a bit fuller thats all i can say for now .
I ve tried all kinds of settings / default etc, its a sunny day so i have no exposure problems .
Pic was taken at F11 , ive tried all kinds of high shutter speeds usually i shoot no lower then 1/125 handheld and iso as low as possible in this case not higher then 340 - 400 respectively

Sold / traded in , if everything goes as plan i ll be picking up a Fujifilm GFX100S tomorrow .
I ll be using my old Leica glass with a Fujifilm G mount - Leica M adapter ( NOVOFLEX )
After 2 days of testing , the Leica glass came out on top , cant beat a Summichron 50 mm / F2 ( probably a APO version will but its another price range .)
Came to the conclusion that the Phase one i have with the schneider lenses is not the sharpest kid on the block , the colours are nice though.
I think the GFX 100S/ Leica combo will be a great leightweight ultra sharp combo , perfect for carrying around and making great photos , you might get a bit of vignetting in the corners due to the leica being a 35 mm full frame lens but we ll see

Here a shot with the SONY A7 / Leica glass .( its reduced from a 24 MB to a 1 MB File unfortunately )

Plus the GFX has as a bonus a BSI CMOS sensor and image stabilisation

Thanks for taking the leap and then sharing, Andromeda! Will be interesting to see where you land.

Phase one gone,

" Say hello to my new friend , the sales person said the pictures look natural "
I said great because the word natural is all the hype these days

Arrived 100 mpx minimonster camera
I have ordered a leica lens adapter
A lens adapter only costs me 170 euro and i m sure i have good glass.
Whether it works with the fujifilm sensor we ll have to wait and see.
The sensor is the same size as the iq 1 50 back.
But this is a 100 mpx back side illuminated sensor .
BSI.

Oh and by the way all these sensors are Sony made ( fujifilm and phase one)

Unfortunately i don t know how to resize the phase one 48 MB files to around 1 MB forum acceptance size( they have a IIQ extension)

The problem is lloyd i doubt you will see much of the sharpness / contrast of which 50 or 100 MB medium format picture files are capable of on a forum website .
If you print large or you just wanna have HQ images then its probably worth it

The phase one has a certain real look to it with saturated colours but dont zoom in a lot because it looses its sharpness fast with the schneider glass

Here are the Phase one pics as GIF filesScreenshot 2022-09-08 101532.gif

Thank you! Very very polished.

I bought 2 lenses for the GFX 100S .
A 250 mm F4 and a 45 mm F2.8.

As far as i know the hasselblad has the same sensor.

(The old sony A7 camera and the Leica lens have found a new home )

I ve been very busy lately .
I ve visited interesting places but both were work related so i didn t bring the new camera unfortunately.
Marocco is a great place to shoot pics and a great place to go on holiday
I ll post some pics with both lenses in the coming weeks but its gonna be brussels / belgium
The handling is very functional / straightforward but i m still figuring out all the options
The Fujifilm app and the ability of shooting via the mobile phone app when on a tri pod is a great option as well
