Welp. It was a good show. There were three floors for rooms and some good ones. It was great seeing @KeithR @Ron Resnick (and Tinka too!) @jeffrey_t @brencho @Jimford and others. 555 Steakhouse didn't disappoint! As for rooms, for me, there was the Alsyvox/Vitus room ... And then all other rooms. It was truly my first wow moment ever listening to planars. Vitus has always been excellent to me but I was skeptical of the speakers. But no more. Wow. Such an incredibly natural sound in so many ways. I'm curious to read other reports, and may chime in further at that point.

Good show; good company. Let's do it again. RMAF anyone?
Count me in on RMAF! It was a pleasure to finally meet you Brian.

THE (The Home Entertainment) event in Long Beach, CA was the first audio show in 18 months - there was no way I was not going to support it!

Though the show was small, and many of the more known manufacturers were not present, there was lots of great setups and products to see and hear. Even better was the pace was much slower, there was time to really sit and listen and engage with the exhibitors.

I was able to see some old friends, meet virtual friends face-to-face and meet some new friends. One thing that was obvious is while the sound is large, audio is a small group of people where everyone seems to know everyone, I guess that goes back to the one degree of separation.

Now for some highlights:

First was seeing and hearing the Wadax Reference, including a Wadax Reference server. This piece is of size, and was neatly stacked onto a HRS three shelf rack. The unit simply worked, it’s in the top tier of DAC’s and rightfully so, there was nothing to say but good things in terms of sound quality, and in reference to price, well…if you have to ask.

I learned that the CH Precision gear is all constructed using a stainless steel base then aluminum encasement on top of that. I do admire the technology of CH Precision preamps with impedance settings for each signal connect as well as their scalability to make stereo boxes into mono powered.

Vitus amps have never seemed to disappoint me, and the same holds true this past weekend. The were pushing sound out of the Alsy Vox speakers with outboard crossovers. I must say I am not a big fan of ribbon speakers, but these really sounded good, and also was able to dip into the low end with ease. Another mention was Zingali, they did not disappoint, and the system was setup very nicely. In that system, as well as a few others are a copper jewelry looking piece that claims to address EMF, I am not sure if it did, but it was for sure jewelry looking.

The turntables of Kuzma and Brinkmann were among my favorites and performed stellar.

A piece of new music to me was Hush by Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin, it is really a piece that will make you chuckle, they are simply having fun. Also, I finally bought some discs from AIX, one being the last copy of Dave Mason from the retiring AIX’s Mark Waldrep.

First, I ran into Ron and Tinka on the first floor, then I got to meet and spend some time with Abey Fonn, then later she tells me she is Impex, we had some fun. It was good to see Lenny Mayeux from Mofi and share some stories. There were several others, and I do to think we would have had this much time if the show was of a larger scale as there is just so many people and much to do in short order.

Long Beach is a great location for a show. An easy jaunt to Newport Beach to Banderas for rotisserie chicken, and the 5’s (555 steak house) in Long Beach.

While there is more to say, I am sure others will pipe in. I was hoping to meet a few others from WBF that may of been in attendance, and perhaps we will at the upcoming RMAF or perhaps another show in the future.

Until then, Long Live Audio!

I am not seeing multiple posts or separate posts about everyone's show adventures and photos here, am I to assume the show was either not that exciting or just an awkward event.
After seeing the videos from an earlier post I still go by I would have wound up on TV or in jail, or both.
Next year if audio shows survive, I plan on hitting the prominent US shows and want to scratch Munich off my list.
Honest opinions are allowed here.
It took stones for T.H.E. Show to be put on this year in California and I applaud that.

I don't know any of the background business details from the point of view of exhibitors, but from the point of view of attendees I think the show, though small this year, was a success! Because big name brands were absent smaller brands had the rare opportunity to be seen and heard.

Instead of Wilson and Magico attracting most of the attention we had the chance to hear small brands like Zingali.

It was nice not to have to fight one's way through the hallways. It was nice not to have to wait on line to get seated for lunch and dinner.

I certainly had fun!

That is why I would pick smaller shows like the Capital Audio fest over Axpona. Less crowds and a chance to hear smaller, lesser known brands.
