The new audiophile vinyl series The Original Source from Deutsche Grammophon (AAA)

Yes, 12 in total. Looks like the releases of four titles at a time are getting more frequent.

I would trust Amazon more than DG.com for sure; but price is higher, not lower, at least from what I can see now at Amazon.com. From DG.com, it’s 35EUR/USD38.25.
Note that I don’t think you can pre-order from Amazon either.
I don't know where you find $35 euros but all the "Original Source Series" on DG website are $46.99 euros and up. Not to mention shipping from Germany vs. free shipping which would save you around $18. Also, you can definitely preorder these upcoming ones on Amazon - the first 3, just not all the upcoming releases.

Four LP's I ordered from Deutsche Grammophon a few months ago arrived this morning :)

Yesterday I played three of these lovely DG 'The Original Source' LPs. Just Mahler to play today.

The three I have played are all top notch LPs regarding the great sound (i.e. very life like (like you are there with the performers), fantastic clarity across the complete music frequencies and spectrum, no sibilance, huge sound stage), very low record surface noise (can hardly hear it with my EF1000 & Susvara headphone system), and no pops and clicks (even though I have only used my Keith Monks Classic RCM i.e. no ultrasonic cleaning).

Overall very happy so far with my DG 'The Original Source' LP purchases.

Looking forward to playing Mahler today and receiving the next two released batches (another 10 LPs in total - missed out on Mozart Concertos 25 & 27) I have ordered.

The Kleiber 7th was also marked as "sold out" after the first release and then returned to stock.
I believe that, eventually, all titles will be available again and on Amazon, which, I intend to order from there.
Still waiting for the 1st batch and I don't have any information regarding its whereabouts, no response from DG as well...

I forgot to mention the Stokowski test press I have of B’s 7th.

As for the new world, I had compared the original decca kertesz (costs over 1k now) to the speaker’s corner on my first trip to G’s 5 years ago. I have the kertesz repress from decca, the Szell Cleveland, the Horenstein. Few others to compare including the Reiner.

musically my favourite is Ancerl with the Czech Phil. You can hear the vinyl rip on YouTube
Ancerl with the Czech is fab in the New World, as is Szell and Cleveland… if DG do a reissue in this original source series with the stereo Fricsay Dvorak’s New World with the Berlin Phil it is killer good.

Edit: … and then forgot the early 60’s Bernstein with the New York Phil… completely amazeballs … aaaaaand now returning you to your regular program.

Concerning the Kertesz New World Symphony, his first recording SXL2289 (very pricey in the original ED1 pressing) was with the Vienna Philharmonic, Jimmy Brown did the engineering in the Sofiensaal in 1961. Then later in late 1966, Kertesz rerecorded it with the London Symphony (SXL6291 Kingsway Hall with Wilkie engineering) along with the entire set of symphonies, including his early ones (they renumbered the symphonies to include those so the New World which was number 5 became number 9). Interestingly HP chose the latter recording for inclusion in his TAS Super Disc list. Not sure whether he ever compared it with the first recording, which has been reissued several times, including Japanese and Speakers Corners. Kertesz also recorded the various other Dvorak pieces (Overtures, Symphonic Poems, Symphonic Dances, Requiem) along with all of the symphonies and other works.

The later recording of the New World is fairly easy to get and much cheaper than the earlier version. It is also a wide band Decca (ED2 pressing) in its original. I have a 15ips 2 track tape copy of the earlier Kertesz version of the New World.

Tragically, Kertesz drowned in a swimming accident at the age of 44. He was in the process of completing the recording of all the Brahms symphonies with the Vienna Philharmonic, and only had the 2nd symphony to record (he had recorded it a decade earlier with the VPO).

Hopefully Mozart's Concertos 25 & 27 will be back in stock soon. Fingers (and toes) crossed.

Hope you get your first batch soon 'iaxel'. They are great recordings.

FYI; I ordered mine back in end of Feb and received them end of the first week in June i.e. approx. 13 weeks !

Mozart's Concertos 25 & 27 back in stock;

Just ordered mine :D . Now have the complete current collection:).
I was stung though by the postage costs of 17.45 euros for one LP whereas ordering the 2nd and 3rd batches with six LPs (minus the Mozart LP) cost the same 17.45 euros ! :(. Shouldn't complain though with being able to order the Mozart LP after it was sold out when I went to order it !

Just received a tracking number from DG.
Last update was on 3rd or June, that the package is being loaded into a container...

I think for all you US and other overseas countries way outside of Europe, shipping from DG could potentially be a nightmare !

These two have sold out now as well ;
[please forgive my poor English]
Regarding piano sonata on vinyl already sold out (1st record, Beethoven/Gilels),

Should we regret that? Is piano on vinyl so recommendable? My feeling is that vinyl fails to convey the immediacy of the hammers hitting strings with a speed up to 90m/sec (mechanical limitation of the medium?). I remember I later read somewhere that Peter McGrath (Director of Sales from Wilson Audio) said: "on piano, vinyl sucks".

Piano can be beautiful on vinyl, sure. But from my humble experience, it is generally not quite "true-sounding" and sounds slightly soft and rounded (there may be exceptions, but they surely come at a cost - I was indeed impressed by the piano rendition of the Nagra Anniversary turntable sourcing the Nagra HD gear with Wilson speakers at the Brussels NewMusic High End Innovation hifi show 2022).

Therefore I am more interested in the bowed string instruments recording of that interesting series.

Some more have just been announced
Any link? Tx

shipping was mangled to the US, but thankfully the boxes inside were fine. it's easier for US folks to order from places here now as it's not just sold through DG.

i'm a little disappointed with the LP packaging tbh. recycled cardboard seems out of place on $50+ records.

My feeling is the opposite. Pianos sound great on vinyl when played on a well setup turntable. I like it more than pianos on cd or digital streaming.

IMHO there is no problem of reflecting piano’s immediacy as long as playback system is up to the task. Of course there are limitations associated with vinyl medium but it can be cut very hot and very well. I heard better dynamics with vinyl compared to digital in general but YMMV.

IMHO the biggest problem with digital is oversampling and digital filtering which ruins impulse response that I can not stand to listen. Oversampling smooths quantization but introduces ringing. Artificially introduced pre and post ringing depending on the digital filter type is most obvious on strings and piano. It’s evident on decay of notes.

Even if you use a NOS DAC there is probably a lot of ringing added to the music during mixing and mastering process. Most albums are mixed/mastered in analog domain for better results. IOT do that digital files first converted to analog and then mixed/mastered and converted to digital again. Most probably the DAC used for the process at the studio is never a NOS DAC. It’s usually a DAC with sharp filter as industry standard which adds equal amount of artificial pre and post ringing on either sides of the signal. Once it’s converted back to digital, artificial ringing becomes a part of the original signal. Ringing becomes double or squared if it’s done twice both for mixing and mastering.

reading this thread a few weeks ago i wanted to order these from Acoustic Sounds, but i was going to be traveling to SoCal for the show and did not want to have them sit outside my gate for a week until i returned. so finally yesterday morning i did order the 4 Acoustic Sounds had in stock.

but then later yesterday i had a nagging sense i was missing something. so i read the first few pages of the thread and saw i posted i had already ordered these from DG in February. but i never got any shipping notice, or even a confirmation email listing the items i ordered at the time of order. so i went back to my emails from Feb 24th and saw the paypal notice of my DG order, but not a description of what i ordered. so i forwarded that notice to the paypal email i paid, and this morning got a response with a tracking number. suppose to be here today or tomorrow. fedex said the shipping label had been somehow damaged so it was held up.

so i called Acoustic Sounds this morning to put my order on hold until i can see which albums were actually shipped.

the lesson being that when buying direct (especially from Europe and a new source) and not getting any response  when i ordered other than from paypal, to follow through and get something actionable to keep track.
