Todd's AG Trio G3 System -- it's about time

My friend in Parma has the new trio with Grand Prix Audio, tonearm Da Vinci and Grand cru, G 1000,GE 10,and Kagura.
I listen some videos but don't like the speaker and I love this Kondo
Hey Gian,
What don't you like about it? Does your friend have any reservations? thx

The new power cords are still breaking in. The dealer moved them a long way down the path for me. But still have a way to go.

Here is a video of the first part of Midnight Sugar. I thought this would be good since it was posted above.

Hi Sbnx,
Sounds like outstanding bass texture to me. Can only imagine the bass weight in your digs. Congrats!

On the subject of cables, how did you approach this conundrum?

Use the brands whose sonic flavor you have been acclimated to over time? Trust your dealer with his favorite brand? Trust the reviewers with the flavor of the month? Ask the manufacturer for what they like / find "synergy" with? Drive yourself crazy by swapping in and out dozens of cables through recommendations of audio guys? Combination of the above? Other?

I'd just throw them on the other side of the room
then you should do it.
so you can escape and enjoy whichever system you are in the mood to hear. :)
not my style. i listen a lot and appreciate what it takes to absolutely optimize one set-up. the room is not designed to work for two compromised speaker set ups. just one all-the-way right one. two radically different speaker systems need two sets of high level amps/preamps, cable switching. basically a mess.

part of peace of mind for idea listening comes from eliminating doubts about your whole system. that all is right and done. that's important to me. and that's where i am.

i respect that others have different system building and room perspectives and don't insist as much for everything to be ideal. some have homes with multiple systems, more than 2, around their homes. no good or bad to it, that might be exciting too. i would say that there is no way to pour what i have poured into one set-up, into multiple set-ups. some others roll different sets of speakers into and out of a single system. not even physically possible in my case with the size and weight of my twin towers.

Don't worry Mike, he and Lagonda tried the same pitch on me. I told them if it ain't good enough for MikeL, it ain't good enough for me, lol.

Ok. For you video people. All i ask is that you listen with headphones. It does not sound right played back from a phone or tablet. Although the bass sounds a little weird even through headphones.

Compare and contrast:

Easy, Mike. You missed the smiley face.

I think it has to do with audiophiles who cotton to the contemporary high-and audio sound as cultivated by the magazines, and audiophiles who don't. I think it's about this bifurcation in sonic preferences, not a bifurcation in loudspeaker preference, horns or otherwise.
Hi Ron,

I trust you are not suggesting that personal sound preferences are influenced by hi end audio reviews. If people buy something because of reviews only, suffice to say they are not serious audio folks but sheep grazing in the land of the uninformed.

Its a spectacular speaker and impressive in some recording, but don't have a natural sound for me
I have also listened to videos of systems, some of which were taken with a pro mic And I thought some didn't sound like real music and didn't natural in tone and timbre but after listening to some in their places, my opinion completely changed.

You have that really long room Marc, it could work. But Bills horns are a thing of the past anyway i suppose  You should move your system to the great ballroom anyway, that is a awesome room, your girl can watch Tv in the bedroom ! ;)

You’re really looking out for Marc’s relationship there Milan. He likely get kicked in the great ballroom if he does.

There is no way to try that many cables. Obviously the first thing is to establish how much you want to spend. IC's came down to three cables -- Chord's TheMusic, Nordost Odin2 and Crystal DaVinici. I never go to audition the DaVinci butI believe it would sound very nice with the horns. What all three of these have in common is they have great timing characteristics and they are all quiet. For power cords I would have liked Odin2 but just not in the budget. With the horns it is important that the cable be quiet (Meaning lower the noise floor). Argento FMR fit the bill nicely. It gets rid of so much resonant noise in the system. I really like what it does. A word of caution to those who might want to consider FMR. It has a VERY long burn-in cycle. If you listen to one in your system make sure it has months of time on it. Even then it takes about 3 days to settle once you plug it into your system. Although Argento makes silver cables they don't have that characteristic "silver" sound to them. It seems Argento and Crystal have figured out how to treat the silver to make it sound glorious instead of etched.

You mean if he gets to wear the ring, then yes.

You could make it a condition of marriage Marc, if you get the big ballroom for your system, you agree to marry her ! A audio prenuptial agreement ! :p
