I started a playlist recently of tracks that are real torture tests for a system. They highlight one particular aspect of a system, like high frequencies, bass, soundstage etc. I thought I'd share a few, and see what others like? I prefer to find the highest resolution digital for any track, though I don't limit my choices to that.
First up is the new album Celestial Blue by Celia Garcia-Carcia. It's a very unusual album of solo Celesta music. I would say it is angelic and dreamy. Its all about complex high frequency interplay and harmonics. Excellent to show up what the tweeters are doing and upper crossover frequencies. It is by the trptk label that makes some of the most perfect digital recordings I have heard, true audiophiles at heart too. I have this one in 32 bit DXD Wav, and it really shimmers with crystalline purity . Many of their recordings are also available in surround too, as this one is.
