Tripoint troy signature grounding device

Your too late Blizz, within moments of going Entreq, Per Olof's "Miracle Earth" from his farm in Sweden, spilled forth from the Silver Tellus box.
I looked at it and said, "Amen, this is a miracle. All this earth, for the knockdown price of £1650, I am truly blessed."
I gathered it up, rubbed it in my head, and got hair like Peter Popoff.
Oh, and also my audio sounded better than ever.

I can't help but think how much Peter Popoff could contribute to this industry. He needs to forget about late night TV. Far more money in audio.

I would rather figure out how it works and build my own. This seems like a more cost effective solution:

Rather than putting another stake in the garden, which is dangerous and won't accomplish much.
Spend less than $20 and get a used copy of the Ralph Morrison book:
"Grounding and Shielding in Facilities"
Chapter 7 'Facility Considerations' has complete instructions on doing things the correct way.

started listening to the Troy Signature around 8 pm last night. listened till 11pm last night, then today since early.

I have the Thor Reference grounding cable connected to the phono ground post on my dart pre, and a standard silver grounding cable connected to the Tara Grandmaster grounding system on the Golden Gate. the Thor power cable is currently plugged into it's own dedicated outlet (Furutech GTX-D (R) -> Equi=tech).

a place to start.

from the first note this is awesome. it's a whole new ballgame, anything but subtle, and I'm still getting my brain around trying to define the ways it makes the sound better, and the music more real. for now I just want to experience it and enjoy what I'm hearing. and try not to analyze it. but my brain is reacting to new information and new degrees of realism in every recording.

lower noise; yes. more dynamic; yes. better flow and timing; yes. but more than that it seems to supercharge the musical energy.

I just grounded the power supply of the NVS tt. I need to go to the hardware store and find a small screw so I can ground the stainless steel arm board of the tone arm.

I'm very impressed.

Mike,

Anything to add after the Troy has had some time to settle in?

I have had my Troy going on 3 years now. I have tried a variety of wire to connect my amplifier because I need a 12 ft length and wasn't prepared to spend mega bucks for the Tripoint cable. I have come to really like the new High Fidelity (magnetic, blah, blah blah, conductors) cable to sound superb. I was also able to connect the ground wires from the back of the Troy directly to my outdoor (active) ground with a solid weld, rather than plugging into wall outlet for connection to Earth. Still considering the new version but haven't had a chance to find out if there is an upgrade path through Tripoint.

Rick's stuff is not cheap. How much did you pay for your grounding wire from him? How exactly do you connect your Troy to your Ionic ground?

hi Frank,

the new year is an especially busy time at work for me and exhausting. I've been listening intently but I've had little energy for anything else.

I did make a few adjustments and additions to my grounding connections. first off; I moved my dart pre power supply/charger so I could plug the darTZeel preamp power supply/charger to the same outlet as the Thor power cord from the Troy. Miguel recommended that as significant; although he did not know if it would be as significant since the dart is battery powered. I did ground the stainless steel arm board.....along with the power supply of the tt as I previously mentioned. I also grounded the outboard LPS of the server.

I've been listening in this way for the last 10 days and it's been sounding great and staying about the same......until.....yesterday afternoon. when I returned back to listening after watching some football (the Seahawks game about killed me) something kicked in and things improved almost as much as the original jump. I'd place a percentage on it but the current WBF culture is so toxic I don't want to feed the beast.

i'll just say I was really impressed with this large step.....blown away might be a good descriptor. this big next step was 11 days after install as a data point.

the soundstage increased noticeably, noise lowered, dynamics increased; but that does not really relate what happened. it's more that the music became more real and organic in the soundstage, the reality quotient increased by a few orders of magnitude. how do you exactly describe that? I don't know. a magical experience. profound. the music is more nuanced, greater ease and greater musical tension at the same time, more holographic, much less processed and less sense of the reproduction chain. like multiple pieces of gear all improved and became more synergistic.

I'm impressed and just want to listen and not think about it.

Mike, I think these new "findings" had more to be with your BAC than anything else. In my line of work, we call that a "confounding variable...."....;)

Blood-Alcohol Content?

my Scotch and Rye Whiskey collection has been untouched for a few weeks. as tired as I've been it would just put me to sleep in short order.

Imo it is ridiculous that we cannot talk completely free about our audio experiences due to what you - rightly - call the toxic culture of WBF. Again and again the 'high price brigade' attack audio components that in their view are too expensive, a lot of times even when they have never heard the bashed product. The Tripoint components have been attacked again and again or even ridiculed on WBF, and that not only for their prices, while most of our members have no clue about the time, effort and costs to built the Troy, emperor and the top of the line Tripoint grounding cables, let alone the sophisticated solution Miguel has come up with after about 15 years of research and development.

That said I hope your latest comments make things completely clear to even our non believers: the Troy is a very important and special audio component; without it you are just not getting the best out of your audio system. As I mentioned several times before on WBF, get one and you will be truly amazed about how it raises the level of your music reproduction. No, it is not as cheap as some other 'grounding' units, but if you want the best, well you know ....

Preach it!

Hi guys,
As a new Tripoint Troy Signature owner with the brand new Emporer ground cables, I would like to tell you that my system which consist of a Analog Domain Isis , Trinity Dac , Nola Metro Grand reference Gold speakers is sounding better than I have ever heard in my room. The Troy is one special piece of equipment but what hit me in the gut is the new Emperor ground cables which I have 2( one on the Trinity Dac and one on my Isis integrated). After 4 weeks of continues playing it just keeps getting better. I could go on about the Hifi jabber but this cable is something much more special. One of my favorite attributes is its ability to convey the articulation of the stand up string bass. The way it rounds off each individual bass note in a fleshed out manner is mesmerizing. I could go on about so many other things but what this boils down to is that the Emperor cable is giving me immense amount of harmonic detail!!!!

Jiujitsu,

welcome to What's Best Forum, and congrats on your new Tripoint Troy Signature. I love mine. I know what you are enjoying.

I 'only' have the 'Thor Master Reference' ground cable so far. I'm sure the Emperor is another couple of steps beyond my Thor. when I had my Trinity dac I did not have my Troy yet.....and can only imagine where that takes things.

the hardest part of the Troy and the Trinity is finding words that can relate what they do. the rest is just fun.

enjoy!!

Thanks Mike ,
I have to say that the Troy with Emperor cables does take the Trinity to a new level. I loved the Trinity Dac before the Troy but now you can just imagine.

Miguel has persistently urged me to come down and hear the Emperor grounding cable. I resist as I cannot afford them and I recall what happened when I heard the Thor SEs. I have four of them. They are great, but that is about as far as I will go. Where are you?

Congratulations!
I am sure it's a great buy
Entreq for various reasons met my needs better but I have no problem with those who choose Tripoint.
The real reason for this post however was your Analogue Domain Isis which until your post was unknown to me.
I have a Vitus SIA 025 integrated so am particularly interested in other high end integrated amps and will have a listen to the Isis at Munich next week.
Would be interested through a new thread in reading your impressions of the Isis as I imagine others would be too.

Barry, Bill over in Reading and another buddy of mine at West Hampstead has this too, in case you want to compare, cab it to Bill's
