+1. I was going to post exactly that a few minutes ago, but then I realized the subject matter was all old news and not worth commenting on any longer.

I'll just post new developments.

Tufts rescinds Lance Armstrong's honorary degree

MEDFORD, Mass. — Tufts University in Massachusetts has rescinded Lance Armstrong's honorary degree.

A university spokeswoman says the school's trustees voted unanimously at their meeting this month to rescind the doctor of humane letters bestowed upon Armstrong in 2006.

During his keynote speech in which he revealed a Tufts cycling jersey beneath his academic robes, Armstrong talked about his battle with testicular cancer and the need for everyone to get involved. He told graduates: "Be active. Be involved. Be heard. Be aggressive. Be smart. Don't be afraid."

The university said Wednesday that while respecting Armstrong's cancer-fighting efforts, the board concluded his "actions as an athlete are inconsistent with the values of the university."

Armstrong was stripped of seven Tour De France titles after the U.S. anti-doping agency revealed evidence of performance-enhancing drug use.

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Lance Armstrong has been given three weeks to appeal a decision to strip him of his championship titles, according to a report by Bloomberg on Tuesday. Armstrong was officially informed his results dating back to Aug. 1, 1998 have been nullified, according to the Union Cycliste Internationale, the report said. Backdated to Dec. 6, Armstrong now has three weeks to appeal. In August, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, or USADA, removed Armstrong's seven Tour de France titles and banned him for life for using prohibited substances after he opted not to contest doping charges in arbitration, the report said.

Sure sounds like Armstrong's in a heap of trouble either way.

My cycling team and my cycling friends have talked about this prospect for LA and we all feel that the door has shut on this for Lance, at least to regain status and respect and be able to compete... he blew that apart. I wish I could feel sorry for him, all he had to say was "I passed every test" Not "I never took any PEDs" Not "I'll sue anyone who challenges me". He was a hero for me... w a s.

If he's about to admit I don't see how anyone can continue to defend him .. Then again, if one's a believer no amount of proofs will change one's mind ... I know nothing about doping and the likes but I seem to have read that some forms of doping are very difficult to impossible to detect.

Regardless, the more one looks at the whole thing... The more difficult it becomes to defend him ...

I know quite a bit about doping and sports. It's true, certain drugs are impossible/hard to detect.

But in the case of Armstrong, if you read the USADA report on him, you'll realize he was much more than a guy who simply took drugs to cheat and win -- his conduct through his career was reprehensible. He's an absolute disgrace to any sport.

This is an good, recent article that, once you read, you'll be pretty up to date on the legacy Armstrong has left behind:

why weren't any of his tests positive

Read the USADA's report on him and you'll realize he use MANY methods to get around them. It's kind of shocking the lengths he went to -- bullying and threats seemed popular with him.

There was a great article I think in Men's Journal about him called "The Case Against Lance Armstrong." Anyone who thinks he would have still won without drugs is sadly mistaken. Read the article -- he's outlined a top-tier cyclist, but a middle-of-the-pack one. A great drug program, which he appears to have had, can dramatically change that.

So in a sport were all are doping armstrong was the worst ? Or just the smartest doper .

i wish our government went after politicians and corrupt financiers the same way they do tax paying citizens...

Its all BS To me , considering the zeitgeist .....

A show of hands please. How many read the 1000 page report? I posed this question before. Would not those who doped with him not know how he beat the test.? They had to pass the same test.

Not necessarily. "Beating" the tests isn't easy -- and sometimes it takes a lot of money to do so. What's more, "beating" the tests can mean many things. It could be getting your blood and urine samples through without detection, but it could also mean other means such as test avoidance, bribes, threats, etc. It's a VERY complex issue that, to do successfully for that long, you need a team of specialists to handle for you. If you read the report, Armstrong appears to have had that in place. In fact, he should've changed his name to Strongarm.

You don't have to read 1000 pages. Read the first 10 and see if you see him in the same light. Remember, this guy is thinking about coming up with a confession now -- but he's been lying to everyone for 15 years.
