Tribute to yet another maestro Salvatore Accardo.
The album was recorded in 2007 when he was 66. He was wise and the technique was still there then.

The venue was Peccioli Pieve del Convento dei Cappuccini, a small chapel in Tuscany.
The expansive room acoustics and the SACD format of the album have added much to this polyphonic masterpiece.

A quick listen determined this disc would be arriving in short order.

Boy, you can’t got wrong with just about any of the Vivaldi series on Naive. I’m also attracted to the album covers for some strange reason.IMG_0368.jpeg

Philips "Dutch Masters" series includes at least a few of the Pickwick covered albums. Suspect Naïve will pursue a broader view of modern French manufacture in this vein.

At least as much to appease the Marty camp as explain a selection of newly recorded music in what I consider a challenging to collect in period. Overtly unnatural perfection sits more agreeably in this repertoire by these players. Possibly eclipsed ten replays of this album recently. Enough to suggest to me others may find it an equally pleasing compositional voice.

Came to this as selection containing potentially high quality programming well sized up by artistic forces. NZSO's touch in everything coming after Symphony No. 1 more fully delivered upon that promising nature.

It’s a pleasant surprise to discover something recently what one should have known about years ago. Browsing through Qobuz and found this fine Decca recording of Britten’s piano and violin concertos. Now I can’t imagine anyone but Richter playing his piano concerto. The violin concerto with Mark Lubotsky is very nice too, but I still think this performance is bettered by Janine Jansen’s. Nevertheless, two fine performances to enjoy if you’re into the Britten thing.
