awesome...i am getting it...and this one too from the reviews. Thanks for bringing this recommendation up!

Rachmaninoff - Trifonov.jpg

As much as I love Berman's flame-throwing virtuosity in the Transcendental Etudes, he sounds a little crass and superficial compared to Trifonov in this new release.. I've heard so many voices and nuances that no other pianist has brought out. (I've haven't listened to disc 2 yet, but no doubt that he works his magic in those pieces, too.) The sound is fantastic, although I'm not sure that 9 microphones are needed to capture the sound of a piano. I think this release can easily be called essential for Liszt or piano lovers.

Nope. My obsession doesn't extend to buying multiple copies/releases of the same music. There's only so much I can listen to.

Your post comes just in time - yesterday I was listening to DG CD - I have to say that it is by far my preferred no5 - I have not listened to any other for years. I have found however that DG has also edited a blu- ray having the LPCM 24-bit/96 kHz of the original master tape approved by Carlos Kleiber. How can we rip such recording from the disc? https://www.amazon.com/Carlos-Kleiber-Orchestral-Recordings-Grammophon/dp/B00K03VZXS

It's always nice to add another absolute masterpiece by Bach to my collection and this one is brilliantly performed and recorded too--

J.S. Bach: 'Himmelskönig, sei willkommen', BWV 182
Monika Mauch, soprano
Charles Daniels, tenor
Matthew White, countertenor
Harry Van Der Kamp, bass
Montréal Baroque
Eric Milnes, conductor

The 2-disc recording by Jordi Savall's Herperion XX from 1986 of Couperin's "Les Nations" suites set a standard of performance and sound quality that has never been bettered. I've treasured these for almost 30 years.
