He has a strong Scriabin/Prokofiev vibe, with some atonal flirtations. Some of you might know his sister's music, Gra?yna Bacewicz. Very good playing and sound.

SHM version .... The only time Bernie conducted on the Kaizer's turf . This is a red hot live reading ... There's surely blood spilt when it all settles down . A good pointer of system performance for me would be ,how it all hangs together on the complex tuttis of the first movement . Feel drained at the end of it , like being put thru a blender .... a Primeval one !

Man, these are intense, vibrant performances! Their tone is a bit fuller than most period-instrument groups. Fantastic sound, too.

So I read on Tony Duggan's synopsis , the whole section missed out . A silent protest of some sort ... Ha .

One might argue that "Capriccio Espagnol," "Pictures at an Exhibition" and " The Firebird Suite Round Dance of the Princesses" do not belong on the guitar, but Caballero certainly makes a convincing case. Staggering playing and very good sound.

I started with No.3 on this new release. Predictably, she's volatile and dramatic, but also plays some ravishing pianissimos. The outer movements are a bit faster than I'm used to, but they work for me. Good sound; however, the tympani and bass drum are a bit feeble.

Hang on! Did this just get released 2 days ago? Wow! This apparently is the 2nd time (after 30 years) that Gardiner, Monteverdi and English Baroque Soloists have produced St. Matthews Passion...nice.
