Hi Jazzhead...i am most curious to hear what the Stillpoints Ultra Vs do under the X1s...i have been advised if i audition them...i will be keeping them. we shall see!
I've PM'd you for specific advice...but for the Forum, perhaps you can explain why you think it's a given? I have only heard the Ultra SS which was impressive under the heavy Audio Aero La Source digital...tell us about the Ultra Vs! Thanks!
In a nutshell it'll have RAID 5 protection on up to 10GB of HD and 2GB of SSD. I ordered my personal Dual (PCM and DSD) unit fully loaded. Software is jointly developed with BitPerfect. It'll have a BD drive and allow you to rip 24/192. It will come with an iPad mini preloaded with the remote App. That's pretty much all I know for now. Like I know it will do up to 32/384 but don't know to what extent it will stream DSD yet. 2X? Not sure. Not so much an issue for me. I don't have access to 2XDSD files unlike some lucky others here. Larry is a member here so maybe he'll chime in. In the meantime the Da Vinci that is here continues to open up more and more. Terrific at spatial cues this machine is even with 320mbps and 16/44.1. I'm a sucker for a walk in soundstage so this is right up my escapist alley. It's got great tone too but closer to neutral than the Tentation or Zanden because the stage is spread out more. According to my log it took about 350 hours. If it gets better still by fleshing out more and adding density, I think that will be gravy. It's plenty solid already.
