What turntables do you use? Pictures would be nice as well :-)

still in the process of but capable of producing sweet sound as is with an old cartridge ...an RCA 70-B from 1937 fitted with a Japanese gray 108 clone...to be fitted with a Zero for the -50-ies mono stuff that invariably got mangled in digitizing.IMG-20241116-WA0026.jpeg

I just realised last Sunday, November 17 I have owned the mighty Pioneer Exclusive P3 for 15 years. 15 years of trouble free musical pleasure.

special thanks to my friend Travis who found one in Japan, had Pioneer service it and the tonearm, pack it perfectly and ship it to me all those years ago.

Having straight and S shaped arm wands gives one the ability to get the best out of almost any cartridge.
no need for isolation as it has build in isolation down to 5hz for the table and tonearm which is isolated completely from the wood plinth.
Once you get used to the start stop in in less than a split second, it's hard to use anything else.

a modern day vintage classic if there ever was one and still ahead of the game in many respects 45 years after it was released in Japan only. - they only ever kept the best for themselves back in those days.

Another classic Japanese vintage DD is the Denon DP100! I also have the P3a and Technics SP10MK3, and I have auditioned 2 DP100 in my friend’s place, one with the stock arm, the other have the FR66S. Between the 3 TTs, my impression is that the SP10MK3 is all power and excitement, the P3a has less power but more finesse, the DP100 is right in between. If I have to choose between the 3, the DP100 will be my choice!

My J.A. Michell Orbe turntable with Moerch DP-8 tonearm and Lyra Kleos cartridge. Although I have modified the suspension and footers over the years, I have remained loyal to this classic design for 15 years now.

Really enjoyable turntable I must say. Many people don’t realise it but they were originally the same price as an SME 20 - I must confess that to my ears oi enjoyed it more than the SME (yes I know I’m gonna be lynched)

Just back from Berlin rewired, the Schröder Reference has made it onto my PTP Lenco for the first time. Set up is still approximate and only a couple of hours on the cable after Frank gave it two days on his cable burner but sounding pretty good already. As a bonus there’s no magnetic hum pick up from the motor as the cartridge gets towards the end of the record as I found with both the Naim Aro and Korf on this deck with any of my lower impedance cartridges, including this one (SPU Royal N if you don’t know it). The DV17D3 and 103 were immune so I’d surmised that I’d need to look for something like a Benz, EMT or Allaerts to avoid it and was wondering which would give me the closest sound to the Royal N but seems there’s no need, still intrigued by the Allaerts though.

Yesterday evening we joined the Zero with the RCA 70, finally with enough gain due to a second line stage (EL34), boy...I'm still flabbergasted from the dynamics this beast is capable of...great sound, pace and all that even with a very humble RIAA phono pre and my Phillips step up...addictive
The differences between pressings and recordings is huge, but the EQ curves are all off (most mono that I am after is pre RIAA, so DIN or DG, Decca etc)

Boy I’m missing my PTP6, having a new plinth made and should be with me early next year

About three months but it depends how you catch him. I presume a rewire wasn’t his top priority.

Tom. I see that you previously had a Bauer DPS3 which I'd been very attracted to, but they do not have a UK dealership and so I have stopped yearning for one. Now I see that you purchased and I assume have kept the Luxman PD-191A - a turntable that is currently in my purchase sights. How do you like it some months in? Any insights for a potential buyer?

After nearly 6 month, still faczinating about the new Luxman.
For my opinion, the desk/arm is able to provide the „best“ of the mounted cartridge - better than the DPS3 and the StSt Motus can do.

Only one thing you keep in mind:
The motor is not completely silent - you can hear a quiet “whirring” sound during operation if you stand directly next to the turntable.
