Even before he joined Wilco, Nels Cline had a long career in jazz, sometimes collaborating with his brother Alex, and often with his Nels Cline Singers band. His early jazz stuff is mostly avant, so it's good to see that, for this release, he mellowed out quite a bit. This is pretty cool, atmospheric jazz, very moody, with some tasteful solos here and there.
Might be a good "gateway drug" for the kids (Wilco fans) to get into jazz! This is good stuff, just don't expect it to sound like Wilco
