This is really nice. She was only 20 when she played on this recording. It was also 5 years before Barbirolli passed away.

I saw this on line last night, and I thought that it would be good to have, since the reviews were stellar. I walked into my fave. second hand cd/lp/etc. store today and saw it. What are the chances of that?

Being a fan of Jacqueline Dupre this is on my list .... Ordering :)

I'm not sure of your preferences (lp or cd, etc.), but I negelected to mention that I got it as a red book cd. In any case, it's pretty damned good stuff!

It was a wee bit uncanny. The weird thing is that I never wanted to go near Elgar, because of the pomp and circumstance stuff, which is really suggestive of British imperialism and nationalism (in my mind), possibly becasue it has been hijacked by the Rule Britania brigade of the "Last Night of the Proms." How wrong was I!

Incidentally, the Dame (Janet Baker) has a fine set of lungs!
