She tells how the songs came about. The songs are from several concerts. I can tell that some of the songs are from older recordings. Nevertheless, they sound good.
Always a precarious fence walk injecting humor into music. "Highway Patrol" and "My Wife Thinks You're Dead" crack me up every time. Then he puts it to bed with the bluegrass/steel string meets Hendrix romp; nailed it right down to the "Foxy Lady" feedback note to close out the album. He has earned my respect and a place in the collection. Good clean fun.
This recent box set sounds much better than the Blue Note CDs I sampled. I don't know how it would compare to original LPs, but I am not curious to find out.
