Where do you fall?

As best I remember your reciever, if it has a phono stage, is set for moving magnet cartrdiges and is set for a 47K ohm. This should be fine if the cartridge you are using is a moving magnet. If you are using a moving coil you could have a cartrdige that goes as low as 100 ohms. It could have an output as lowas .2mv. It is unlikely that the average receiiver is equipped to handle that. So you may have to get a step up transformer or head-amp that has enough gain to handle that. I suggest contacting someone like the www.needledoctor.com for more information.
In my ARC SP-9 the necessary resisitors came with the unit and instructions for soldering them across the input.

I used to be #1, don't think #2 is possible in reality, have gravitated toward #3 because I do actually like to enjoy my listening.

I'm kinda like this too, but, I'd say I'm 75% into being #3 because while I love the beauty of the music itself, I do set a limit into how far it would err from actual reality. I have heard my systems that belongs to the #1 bracket, and I've decided that it was not for me. I feel too that #2 is not possible (within the limits of my audio spending budget), and I learned that long ago after attending an mini opera in Schonbrunn, Vienna in the 90s. When I came home and listened to my Jadis 200/B&W800s, I thought something was broken in my system and I started to borrow some cables to 're-tune' my system when in the end I realized it was my ears that had to be 're-tuned'. And so I became Mr. Romance, not Ms. Romance, and frankly, I did not know what PRAT was until about a couple of years ago. :)

Hi Jadis,

To my ears, your current system is between #2 and #3 now with your Koetsu Rosewood Signature. Your system gets to #3 when one of the Koetsu stone bodies are installed.

Hi Mullard88,

I really hope to go to that direction one day, that of having a 'stone body'. :)

Hi Jadis,

I'm sure you'll find your way to a stone body Koetsu. You might be able to convince the fake audiophile to send Koetsu one of his stones to fabricate into a few cartridges and we might each have a stone body Koetsu.

Hehe, Mullard88, that's actually a good idea. I think he is retired from audio now.

Hi Jadis,

If he is retired, you should take this opportunity to make an offer for his stone body Koetsu.

Will try, Mullard88.

Make sure it's not a fake retirement ;) ;) ;) ;)

BTW, I am curious about the Coincidents - the review seems too good to be true!

Every word in the review is true. Here's one way of verifying it. I have four friends who know my room really well. We NEVER agree on anything, as audiophiles are prone to do. And no one has ever liked my system above their own (another audiophile trait). But this one guy, he still says it's the best system he's every heard. Me? I continue to be very impressed with the Coincident's. Currently I'm driving them with the Ayon Vulcan IIs, one of the best SETs ever made. But, and now this is a kicker... They sound equally as good with a vintage pair of Krell KMA 400s. So that tells me something. These are very versatile and while uber revealing, they are uber delivering the best within of each recording. You hear the good, the bad and the ugly, but it's not bothersome. There is truth in every recording and the Coincident’s “find it” and deliver it. Did I mention the best imaging I’ve heard to date? Over the summer I was chatting JV up and he invited me to hear the Magico's in his home once he got them set up. I was really jones'n to hear them... that was... until I got the Coincidents. These are outstanding loudspeakers. BTW, I'm all of those listeners, just depends on the mood, and the recording, of what percentage of each.

I love Gregadd's type summary. I am a type two, the "Absolutist," only I say; a pox on Magnepans. They can't do absolute like Scintillas. Also, any absolutist would be half complete if he didn't want real! ;)

I have to admit, it is always fun to go to a no. 3 party. They always serve the best cheeses and wine. :D

Hi Jadis,

I'm sure you will have a humorous tale that will kill me with laughter once you try. The fake audiophile has a nature out of this world. I am already laughing as I type though I still have no imagined scenario.

Now that you tell me, Mullard88, I'm beginning to laugh at the prospect of doing that. Timing is key.
