I am a beginner wood worker and looking for a jigsaw. The two I am considering are the RYOBI 4.8 Amp Corded Variable Speed Orbital Jig Saw and the SKIL corded Orbital Action Jigsaw - 5 Amp.

Kach is correct, Bosch barrel grip with variable speed control is a life time tool.
Have worn out a Bosch jig saw and am on my second one. First one lasted 14 years, in daily use as a cabinet maker and site installer. Build homes now.
Festool is nicer yet but mucho $$$$.

Definitely Bosch. The best jigsaw I've owned or borrowed. Mine is pushing 20 years old and still works perfectly.
