Why are the WBF servers so slow? PLEASE READ FOR FINAL UPDATED ANNOUNCEMENT

Hopefully we have found the reason for these recurrent messages and the problem is solved. Ewe have again been having growing pains with inordinately large traffic on the site. When we switched to our new server I purchased an additional great amount of RAM to satisfy our peak times

I submitted a ticket this morning and just got this reply....would members kindly keep an eye now for any recurrences

Hello,

The server RAM was full and it had switched over to swap memory which likely caused the issue. I have cleared the RAM.

Please try now and let us know if you still face the issue.

I had a brief recurrence twice this morning. I got the message but when I refreshed my screen the site immediately loaded. Has anyone had a similar experience

I am keeping an eye on the server itself. I need to ascertain the outage is only our site, or is the the entire host and their service site.

The last outage was BOTH, which makes me think it is them, not us.

I appreciate the help guys.

I had the same problem logging on this morning and we have restarted the server as this initiates a quick fix....it is definitely a memory issue due to members on the site at any one time and the resources being used.

We have initiated a ticket this morning to add at least another 20 GB of RAM. They are doing an analysis to be certain 20 Gb are sufficient or whether we should add even more. The site lately has been busier than ever in all of the years it has been open. Our Google analytics continue to show our global rankings in the top 5 so a good problem to have. We have been doing the analysis since everyone began reporting the problem so the issue has continued. Today we initiated the request for additional memory,. Thanks for everyone's help

@Steve williams
It was a smart move that only members can use the SEARCH function :cool:

All day yesterday for me. Check your logs for flooding and denial of service attacks.
