Why are the WBF servers so slow? PLEASE READ FOR FINAL UPDATED ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey guys,

Got another ”can’t reload the page” this morning. Anything you are aware of that causes this hick up?

Anyway, I think you do a fantastic job keeping the forum up and running, and I simply love being part of this amazing community, Thank you.

Johan

I got the same from the UK today and Friday.

I got it twice yesterday and it was late. This morning it's all good at my end. Are there others seeing the message?
We have been restarting our server once a week as a matter of routine but Julian is in Munich and it isn't something that I feel comfortable doing. One mistake and it could go from bad to worse if I give the wrong command:rolleyes:

Fine on this end, thanks.

No issues

I posted this elsewhere

There have been problems again today. I had Julian restart the server and things are fine agsin at my end. We think that much of the slowdown was due to the newsletter being sent out today to well over 30,000 recipients and many were opening it and reading it off the server which would slow us down. Nonetheless we did restart the server and as stated things are finessing at my end. Is anyone still experiencing some slowness.

Right now there are 3000 people on the site. High traffic will also cause slowing

Hey Guys,

Once again I had trouble yesterday in the afternoon and evening to enter the forum, which is rather annoying… Hope you find a solution for these problems.

Three screenshots at different times… Check it out..

...yup. Same here in upstate NY. Did not note time, but during the day, IIRC.
Hi Markus,

Seems like the servers are a bit streched out once again and maybe need another upgrade.
It has been quite fine since the last upgrade but lately these issues seems to have come back more frequently  .

For all of you receiving such a message in your browsers, I must ask how many of you are employing VPN software? If so, I would recommend, if possible, to exclude What's Best Forum from invoking the VPN.

If your VPN does not allow you that flexibility and such software is mandatory, I can recommend the BROWSEC VPN that allows for editable SMART settings, which allows for such site specification/customisation.

Here are the number on the site yesterday when people noted the slow down

It's a good problem to have but if growth continues and we have constant slowdowns we might be faced once again with upgrading to yet an even larger server

We just restarted the server. Things seem faster at my end. How is the speed with other users.
