Magico M7 2023

Cant we get back on topic and let people give their opinion on the M7 .
Instead of this turning into a " dealer show " to promote their own portfolio

Any M7 comments ?
I do think magico became better integrated of the past years , i prefer the M 7 definitively over the Q 7
I have listened to both these speakers extensively. The Q7 to me is like a big studio monitor. When I say that to me that means its a tool to be used rather than a speaker for a listener long term. Why? because its forward and a speaker IMO that is hard to sit in front for long periods of time. The M7 by contrast is much more of a listeners speaker. It lacks or maybe better said it doesn't get up in your face. I don't think I could live with a Q7 for any period of time although I do respect what it does , it just isn't for me. Having just spent a few days playing and setting up a pair of M7 ( same house same rooms and same gear as Q7) I can say that the M7 is in my opinion the best speaker that Magico has produced. It does most things really well and its not hard to sit and listen to it for a long period of time. It is beautifully made and looks nice as well. The sound is what one would expect and should demand in a close to 400k purchase. I am not a fan of metallic domes and I feel that is my only real caveat but that aside its an excellent product and one of the better speakers made today IMO.

The M7s are VG, but the M9 is an entirely different sonic experience than either the M7s or Q7s and imo the best speaker that Magico has ever produced. A lot of the M9 next level up from the M7 or Q7 has to do with the MXO crossover and being able to tune in the mid-bass and bass for ultimate sonic performance.

I just installed M9s in place of the exiting Q7s and from the new M9 owners perspective, who also heard my M7s thinks the M9s are a very significant step up from his 6 year old Q7s or the M7s.

one would certainly hope so as the 9 is twice the price, requires twice as many amplifiers and more speaker cables and interconnects as well.
The 9 is one of the speakers I have not heard and there of course are limited opportunities to hear which is not surprising and along with other huge , costly and rare products.
Just for curiosity was this a purpose built dedicated listening room?

Yes, on twice the price but the M9s run nicely on TWO stereo amps. Yes, you are delivering four channels (two stereo amps) to the M9s but it's still only two boxes. I sold the one pair of M9s in December and just sold the second pair in February, which will be installed in May. Both of these M9 set ups are using two each stereo amplifiers.

This pic is the M9s that I sold/installed in December. The second pair coming in May will be in a normal 20' x 25' listening room, not a dedicated type space.

With saying that I was planning on putting M9s in my space, but after hearing them in a larger space I realized that they need "room to breathe". I ended up bringing in M7s and they give a lot of the M9 sound but fit more appropriately in smaller spaces.

You're right, Andromeda. That was bad form on my part. Apologies to the members.

I enjoyed your report, although I believe you will gain more credibility if you keep the "caveats” out, especially when comparing inferior devices like an AMT to a diamond-deposited beryllium tweeter, IMO ;)

You are certainly entitled to your opinion but the tweeter thing is not even close for me. I mean this will all due respect Sir I am not after approval only saying what I heard. If you don't agree that is certainly your choice.

Peter did request that people familiar with competitors to the M7 post about them to get the thread back on subject. and knowing Elliot had some in system familiarity with various competitors along with the M7, i asked him to comment. and his comments were quite favorable to the M7. so these other comments on alternatives to the M7 i think are positive contributions. i do agree there is a fine line when dealers comment, but mostly it is helpful. and if legit alternatives to the M7 are discussed keeping the M7 in mind, IMHO it's right for this thread.

seems like the M7 is mostly benefiting from competitor to the M7 dealer's comments.

a pure commercial about other speakers without M7 relevance is not appropriate i do agree.

More integrat
Andro, I have heard the Q7 a few times. How does the M7 sound different?

More integration between units , and less coloured , they both sound a bit in your face / Bas light to me .
Fatiguing , I would alter the balance a bit , i assume they also need a lot of power

You should nt confuse audiofile marketing talk with SQ.
Not all audiofiles are gullible
My tweeters are diamond - deposited goldplated beryllium carbon fiber with a leather cherry on top :)

Me? Confuse?? I typically talk about things I actually understand ;)

If your logic would hold any ground Luis Vuitton / Tiffany / Cartier would be top LS manufacturers lol .
Its just marketing talk to appeal to gullible / rich buyers it has nothing in common with SQ./ listening /enjoying music .
Its where the audiophile industry has derailed

Oh BTW i can afford a pair of M 9 s ;)

Let me help you out, but only once as I know better; AMTs, being a line source, have a sound level reduction of 3 dB per doubling of distance vs. 6 dB of a point source, and a completely different dispersion characteristic could never properly match a point source. That is why they stick out like a sore thumb in a hybrid design.

Evolution acoustics also uses AMT , ML s system is in high regard ;).

Sound Q is not about expensive materials / Numbers
Aurum Cantus tweeter......pretty sure. love my tweeter/mid range seamlessness and naturalness. transparent and real sounding.

i'm sure AMT would be good too.

All Evolution Acoustics loudspeakers are designed, engineered, handcrafted, and assembled in the USA. All aspects of our loudspeakers are painstakingly researched and analyzed to produce incredible micro and macro dynamic performance as well as the highest level of clarity in the industry. Only the finest parts are used throughout including reference grade copper foil and paper in oil capacitors, high purity copper foil inductors, copper-nickel bifilar resistors, and foamed dielectric solid core copper wiring. All of these parts are hand matched and soldered point to point in our EXACT constant voltage crossover circuits without the use of thin PCB traces, which restricts current flow.

Clarity and dynamics are achieved through the use of ultra-high quality silk diaphragm " Air Motion Transformer " tweeters,
