Anyone actually take out their wallet for the any of the $25 rock, pop, or jazz SuperHiRez.com DSD downloads?

Santana, Jeff Beck, Janis Joplin anyone??

I am curious what the sales numbers are.

Please indicate whether you have purchased or have plans to purchase any titles.

I tried. Unfortunately, if you aren't in the USA, they can't let you.

Really stupid question...what's the difference between HiRez and SuperHiRez?

I bought Holly Cole Temptation DSD files from them. They have a few more titles I may buy in the future.

I bought a McCoy Tyner title, "Inception", and I liked it very much.
The shopping experience sucks, though. You must place your order, and wait. Like you're buying a physical item. Then, a few hours later, you get an email with your download link. Pretty silly, if you ask me...
I just haven't bought more because most of the titles there I already have in SACD. Like the Santana that just popped in there. So, I'm waiting for real, first time on DSD titles.

As for the geographical limitation, I'm not in the US, and I believe I used Paypal...

I have so many of the AP SACSs ripped that I haven't needed to purchase them again.

I have purchased:
Abraxas
It's Like This
A Caddy for Daddy
Thriller
Head Hunters
Cheap Thrills

I think that's it. I'm not at home at the moment.

I've been pretty pleased, in general. With the AP label, I feel pretty confident. The Sony stuff I've bought as been pretty good so far. Some of the Sony titles (like the Wynton Marsalis) might be PCM based.

To me the attraction of DSD is for direct analog transfers or native DSD recordings.

On balance, I'm still giddy this stuff is available.

How do you mean? Outsourcing that service? Or using the Sony PS method, which is
very cumbersome, assuming you can find the right model.

I think technically it would probably be legal to rip someone's SACDs on his behalf. You could run quite a nice little business doing this on a commercial basis. Not aware of anyone doing it, and probably better not try to start this business because of legal risk. So it is back to shopping for a PS3 on eBay...

Actually, a CD ripping business is not illegal. Several high end server companies including Meridian and Olive provide this.

I brought it up because Bruce said "most folks are having their SACDs ripped". It is not clear to me what he meant.

I can tell you I don't know ANYONE who has ripped their SACDs. It would require the right Sony PS or a "professional" SACD player that outputs
DSD.

Check computeraudiophile.com everyone posting there appears to be ripping their SACDs. Quite a few folks on AVS forum as well. I have a boxed up PS3 but have not gotten around to it yet.

Oh yes, I am aware that people are doing it. But this is not what Sony has been hyping up as "DSD 2.0".

I have been doing it for a few people.

I had my 2 channels done for a fee. If affordable I would consider having my MCH done as well instead of DIY project (incl. PCM conversion). Bruce - I presume you don't use a PS3. What technology do you use, and how much do you charge per SACD? Feel free to PM me.
