Really stupid question...what's the difference between HiRez and SuperHiRez?
When I coined that term, I had in mind PCM v. DSD

I've been doing that, too - last night, did the four that came in the mail yesterday. Hell, I'm listening to the MoFi release of Dylan's Desire as I type this! But for $25, some of the Sony downloads are a bargain compared to second hand SACD prices. Most folks are just having their SACD's ripped.
Not all PS3's play SACD so you couldn't rip.
I have been doing it for a few people.

Detailed instructions on what model PS3 to get and how to configure this are readily available.
It is really a nebulous affair - if you own the SACD what is the legal difference from ripping your own disc or getting someone else ripped file that has the same bit content?
You obviously cannot sell a rip of your own SACD. However, you can probably legally have your SACDs ripped for a fee, provided the ripper does not keep a copy of the files for his own use.

But if the ripper keeps it you have no responsibility on it, although he got the SACD from you with the intentions of ripping it?
I would think there is no liability for the buyer of ripping services and the ripper is probably legally responsible for deleting the files, but I'd have to check with my lawyer.
Just a reminder to all...the topic was DSD downloads for purchase...ripping an SACD is a separate topic. I am trying to get a feel for
the DSD download market and see if it will fizzle out quickly or just kind plod along, like the PCM download market.
Sure. But from what I gather on computeraudiophile, 90% of the DSD action revolves around SACD rips by bleeding edge outliers. Why mainstream DAC vendors are basing their product development roadmap on this is a mystery to me - but back to topic.
No worries. I appreciate your input. I am trying, to be blunt, to understand if all the people who were beating the DSD drum
and salivating over downloads are going take out their wallets and buy $25 download or if it was all talk.
SuperHiRez won't make a dime from SACD rips.
Personally, I am interested in MCH. It is disappointing these superhires files appear to be all stereo only. If they are transferred from MCH DSD SACD to stereo DSD file that is a big disappointement. Only a few diehard MCH fans like Kal will share my pain.
