Hot Pressings

Here's a recommendation for a standard Canadian pressing of Roxy Music- the high road (a live 4-song 12" EP at 33.3). Just started playing this again and I can't believe I stopped. It's a real little treasure and I'm enjoying the heck out of playing it. It's is superbly recorded and a great example of how good original domestic vinyl can sound when done right. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This one is new for me....in fact, I've only had it for a few hours! Been on pins and needles since I bought it and couldn't wait to cue it up. Words cannot convey my absolute delight and pleasure of this pressing. I've never heard my favourite Zep song sound as gorgeous as this. If this album were a woman I'd be in love. :p

I might as well make it 3 in a row as far as recommendations go and that I consider to be worthy of "Hot Pressing" status. It's another domestic release, but this time from one of Canada's great singer/songwriters ...Mr. Gordon Lightfoot.

BONUS feature: (ok....it ain't perfect, but it's all you're getting):p

Some great recommendations there, John. BTW, I noticed that you have a similar layout to me, IOW the speakers are forward in the room and the rack sits between them. I recently angled my speakers in so that the tweets fire to just outside one's ears. This was a nice change to the straight ahead positioning that you are utilizing ( which I was too). You might want to try this ( remember to mark your old positioning so that you can go back if need be).

I'm most certainly willing to give that a try. What benefit do you feel I would derive from it?

Expectation bias, John. Expectation bias. You should try it before Davey gives you an answer - and before I give you an answer.

If you like, I'll send you an answer by PM as long as you don't open the PM before you try it :D

That's a good point Gary, LOL.

My thread..."Can we get fooled" or IOW "Expectation bias" is looking more apropos now:D

John, in all seriousness, do try this and report back. It's an easily reversible move and it may pay dividends.
If you still want me to elaborate before the move, re-post;...and I will be happy to do that.

OK...fair enough. I will adjust them about 1/4" each within the next day or two. In the meantime I'll try to get a good feel for a few albums and then make the change, repeating the process.

Gary - I should mention that I have the rear-tweeters turned off.

John, you must be sitting way back if only a 1/4" is sufficient to angle the speakers to the orientation that would place the tweets to just outside your ears!
I would have thought you may need and angle that is closer to appx 30 to 45 degrees each.

Big shout out to Gary Koh....I picked up original copies of Basie's "Me and You" and Peterson's "Travelin' On". Absolutely wonderful! Thanks Gary!

I nominate you! :D Git 'r done!
Lol, thanks for the nomination Johnny, but you need someone who has a big collection of cd's & actively buys audiophile and high quality recordings, both of which I don't. My whole focus at this stage is on finishing my system :)
