New Album & The Beginning of Basketball Season

Local news today is that both the Clipps and Lakers are playing down today's game as they say it is all about winning a title and not winning a game. The reality is that this should be an intense well fought game as there are still bragging rights for LaLa Land

Very true. Looking forward to very intense competition today. I am not buying their "it's just another game" claims. :)

About 50 years ago Punch Imlach, then the coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs NHL hockey team stated "statistics are for losers"

Well here are the odds on today's game which favors Lakers by 2 points which means nothing. Hopefully the game will be as close as the oddsmakers predict and it'll be a close and tight game

The game is expected to be a close one, as the Lakers are favored by just 2 points over the Clippers, with -110 odds on both sides of the NBA matchup. The Lakers (-129) have a 56.33% chance of winning, per the oddsmakers at BetMGM, while the Clippers (+105) enter as the underdog.

Lakers should exploit their strength in the middle - Dwight Howard, Javale McGee and, of course, Anthony Davis. Clippers don't have the size to defend.

For the Clippers Zubac is big enough but doesn't have the experience or toughness and Montrezl is strong but lacks height.

That's what I would do if I were Coach Vogel.

Vogel better do it and do things right, as a loss tonight means a 4-game losing streak and he might be bumped, literally by 'the bumper'. What a luxury for LeBron, he gets a back up coach who he really wants, among another things. :D

Great game, Clippers clawed back from double digits down to tie the game at the end of 3. The war for the 4th is on. :D

believable

Lakers play the game of the year and give a 15 point lead in the 3rd only to have Kawhi take over. he is silently a killer and so accurate. Lakers have a chance to tie at the end and the King blows it and turns over the ball

Lakers bench and Dee were better than Clipps. Biggest difference was Leonard and Beverly and Le Bron's choke

Doubt he will. It makes for gossip around the water cooler. I do think he will suffer burn out in June. They have back to back games against Portland and the Mavs and the Mavs destroyed the Lakers in their first meeting. Doncic is the real deal

The best article I read about the Lakers-Clippers game was on the Lakers SB Nation forum by Mike Prada. Prada really seems to know his basketball. He took a logical look at the play of both teams and found strengths and weaknesses on each side. Seemed quite insightful to me and a fair look at the play of both teams. He had video of specific plays to demonstrate his points. Very well done.

Good analysis. I was watching with my son on TV and he has clapping literally at every good Clippers play down the stretch. He missed the first half and I told him Rondo hit a trey and tried for a few more but all missed. And I felt that if James is going to run the plays, Rondo's 'slot' is a bit wasted because he is primarily an assist man and not even a renowned medium range shooter, so what is he there for when James needs to pass to a shooter? Who made the decision here?James or Vogel, or worse, Kidd? The Clippers, though 'undersized' in the middle, seemed to have controlled the inside passes of the Lakers. AD was forced to take medium ranege quartercourt shots than in point blank range where is would be like Kareem, instant 2 points. And finally, if they meet again in the playoffs, when LeBron gets the ball for the win, expect Doc to put Beverley on him (it's an incredibly masterful stroke of a great coach, with the guts and savy only the likes of Doc could do) - and by that time, James would have been thinking, that's why I miss JR Smith. :D

In the west 5 games separate the top 6 teams. Mavs knock off Spurs with the return of Doncic. Mavs are a serious contender the West

In the East however I sure hope the return of KD next year will make the Nets a contender because here is a startling stat fro last night's game

Nets set shot clock era record for futility
From NBA.com Staff

Brooklyn entered Saturday's crosstown clash set to face a Knicks team with an interim head coach and a bottom-five defense.

The Nets left with a 94-82 loss and a historically awful showing from the field.

When the day after Christmas was done, Brooklyn had polished off a putrid 21-for-78 (26.9 percent) shooting performance, the worst by any team since Orlando lost to Boston 87-56 in 2012. The Nets' performance was punctuated by just eight made two-point field goals: the fewest by any franchise since the shot clock was instituted in 1954.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, it's not been since 1950 -- when the Fort Wayne Pistons edged the Minneapolis Lakers 19-18 (not a typo!) -- has a team made eight or fewer two-pointers.

Only two Nets players scored in double figures. One of them was Spencer Dinwiddie (25 points, 5-15 FGs), who could only ruefully blame the recent holiday for team's struggles.

"Let's go with too much eggnog," Dinwiddie said. "I don't know what else to tell you."

Even DeAndre Jordan and Jarrett Allen, each of them big men shooting better than 65 percent on the season, finished a combined 2-for-8 from the field. The entire performance left Dinwiddie struggling to find different ways to describe the Nets' forgettable night.

"We were really, really bad," Dinwiddie said. "Like laughably bad. We shot really bad. Probably historically bad."
