Maybe a little hopeful news in the US?

As of this moment, allegedly 3,541 active cases yet only 10 are serious or critical.

I have just checked with my online supermarket and there are no delivery slots available until 11.30pm on Tuesday 24 March.
Will they or the Government, should the latter advise 70+s to socially isolate, instruct the online supermarkets to give priority to deliveries to that group?
Seems a no brainer to me.

My Mom (85) is not allowed to get out of her condo (Quebec).
One of my sisters living 50 miles from her delivers her groceries.
I could write a lot more about every little things that make life completely different to her and a wlole lot people more, but there is simply not enough space and time. Besides, tomorrow will be another world. Each day, each hour we live in a new world of extreme measures, never seen in all of us lifetime.

Humor is good, but humor is going to lose steam ... IMHO
No way Bob. We need one part humour, one part good citizenship, to get thru this.

So when we visit our fave pub today to have a liquid lunch, you talk community, and then you laugh about the absurdity of it all.

If the older generation in the UK are gonna survive a potential 4 month quarantine, they'll need our help, and to be cheered up and not feel like they've been forgotten. Humour is gonna be critical in achieving this.

After the update by Pence today there are going to be hundreds of stand alone testing stations being set up outside
(brilliant) the hospitals across the nation. What this means is the numbers are going to spike like no other. The next week to two weeks are going to explode the paranoids minds. Its not going to change anything other than give the talking heads more numbers to scare the shit out of everyone.
Cooler heads need to prevail.

I was amazed @ the rapidity China built a large hospital (6 days).

Mike, numbers are just numbers; price of gold, bitcoin, Apple shares, Tesla shares, ultra high end audio gear, stock markets, etc.
Here the numbers are human lives, not the same type of capitalist materialist numbers.
We don't sell Ferraris, we research for vaccines, we prepare beds, ventilators, car makers are now making respirators, and we import masks, from China, plus medicine from China, plus experts and doctors from China. We rely in our allies from China.

Nope Bob. Passed away 8 and 6 years ago. Both might have struggled tbh.

Looking @ the numbers in the USA right now is no indicator of where they'll be in say two-week time...end of the month, Duke.

It's NOT the actual numbers I'm looking at, rather the less-than-.3% PROPORTION of known cases that are "serious or critical". Of course the actual numbers will skyrocket, but the proportion of "serious or critical" might not. I can think of things which could push that proportion in either direction.

... What this means is the numbers are going to spike like no other.

Of course the number of cases is under-reported right now because adequate testing has not taken place. But my assumption (and it may be incorrect) is that the number of "serious or critical" cases probably IS known with a fair degree of accuracy at this time because those people are probably in a hospital.

Where the heck are you coming from Folsom.
Get all your personal hatred and spread it with blood all over my dead body.

Bob, you're like the search engine no one asked for... If I could remove your posts from the topic it'd probably only be 30 pages. Can you pump the brakes a little? Maybe put some meditative thought onto subjects and give us some original content?

I have no desire to spread anything on your body.

I bet if you could plant a knife in my back you would.

When they are going to run out of beds and medical equipment the number of serious and critical cases will climb. That number is not bad right now because they aren't overwhelmed yet.
