Where was the mass hysteria in 2009?

No not at all and no US governmental action was taken until 1000 Americans died. Cooler heads prevailed, there was no hoarding of supplies and no one went into hiding, no shut downs of anything, just being smart about it. The difference in that virus is it affected children more than adults.

There have been multiple incidents of people fighting in supermarkets here over toilet paper. I finished second in toilet paper supermarket toilet paper cage fighting over the weekend... nobody gave 2 sheets.

Whoops first rule of toilet paper club, nobody talks about toilet paper club.

IMHO grounds for cautious optimism

I have another 7 days of self isolation to go here in the South of France, before I can return to Monaco. This is because I was in Holland and Germany a week ago

The two major supermarket chains are side by side at our local centre. One has limits set on the lines that are in short supply and the other doesn’t. I go to the one that has the limits set because I believe that is the more responsible chain. The supermarket without limits was absolutely beyond madly packed on Saturday and the one next door with the limits imposed was much closer to business as usual volume of shoppers. Marc it went crazy here earlier with the shops because Australia typically runs just two days of food security. It seems though that the more ravenous hoards are turned off by reasonable limits. Much saner in a shop that is attempting to in some ways regulate the current panic. I figure the other chain running without limits on anything that they have in stock is just going for competitive advantage.
