Hi, I have repaired my wires in my tone arm. Now I am going to mount the arm this weekend hopefully. But just looking at things as an engineer, Is there a lubricant that goes into the cup of the tone-arm. It seems crazy to me not to have any, but cannot find it mentioned on the net. Reading through as many arm manuals that I can find from VPI & none mention lubricant. Also interesting to note that they recommend not using the anti-skating mechanism.
No, there is no lubricant. Also be very careful with "no anti-skate" and the twist in the signal wire to compensate. My cartridge cantilever was bent by unknowingly (it had zero effect on the sound) using too much anti-skate in twisting the wire.

Tonearm bearing lubricant and damping fluid are two entirely different things. Some of the VPI arms had a reservoir around the bearing spike where the damping fluid they provided could optionally be used. There is no lubricant of the tonearm's unipivot bearing itself.
