Surely. But one purely subjective single opinion is just a data point. It is why it is interesting to collect and analyze many opinions and their biases. Fortunately properly carried and explained measurements are objective and do not need to be analyzed statistically. All we have is to have access to them.

Id say CAT does a better resemblance then lets say New audio frontiers , Alieno , Audionote UK , KONDO and on and on.

Sibatone is a good SET on the right transducer as its more neutral

Most other SET s are highly coloured imo and one can better go for a KT 88 VAC in my view .

We should also be mindful that A . Not all manufacturers SE Triode amplifiers invariably measure high THD as compared to other valve based topologies mostly employing NF and GNF, and B . How the SE amplification THD combines with the THD of ones transducer of choice ( more complex than merely the sum of the two ) … Edward De Lima wrote an interesting article on this very subject :

Please show us data and we will be able to compare it. We have many old interesting papers on this subject, but they suffer from a common problem - they compare tubes with old transistor designs, focusing on their known problems. But in fifty years electronics and solid state had a large evolution, making their main arguments quite week.

Eduardo de Lima line of thought that sometimes problems can complementary interact to cancel is interesting, but is limited to a few types of gear and is a roulette, needing a lot of experimentation. I quote "The high output impedance can have several ill effects on a system, but if the system is designed taking it in account it will actually benefit from it. And certainly there are the cases where it just happen to "fix" a bad design.!

We compared CAT JL7 to Allnic 300b on Avalon compass diamonds. While I heard the obvious in two tracks, my friend kept them for a week because he thought he could benefit from more power, but then returned them coz he did not find them better on a single track

and this is based on walking around Munich listening to different amps in different rooms. You have zero experience with any of those SETs

I tried 3 different types of 300 B s incl Sophia Electric.

Sophia electric is a poor 300b. Depends on speaker you match to too.

how did you extrapolate to audionote, NAF and others from that? Especially their non 300b, and the respective different valves too. Extrapolating super power

Imv they might have more power but the overall sound character stays the same .

i don’t like high powered myself. But the CAT JL7 reminded me of another high powered KT amp, Ayon Orthos

We found the CAT JL2 Signature to be ultimately inferior to the NAT SE2SE on Apogee Grand panels. CAT is good...for push pull but there are many better (more realistic) sounding SETs. You , like many underplay how harmonically rich live unamplified instruments sound. Do some amps go too far? Yes, but far fewer than sound unnaturally thin.
