Does hqplayer on the extreme play gapless?
Yes. but only if using it as a standalone player.
Not gapless if using TAS-HQP.

Hello Pinu,

TAS currently only runs on Intel XEON CPUs, the EVO used a consumer level Intel i7 CPU. As we are not further developing TAS it makes no sense to spend countless of hours to port it to the i7, especially considering there are only about 5 EVO’s left in the field.

For the upcoming XDMS we can add more CPUs to the support list. This is several months out. We are currently working on the search engine.

And the team, from left to right, Michel Warlop (Ultisone), me (Emile Bok), Ted Leer (Taiko Audio), Bernd Hemmen (Primary Control), Ton Leer (Taiko Audio), Johannes Bosch (Taiko Audio). Edward Hsu (Taiko Audio) and Daniele Coen (Alsyvox) were there as well but had to leave before we took this photo.

Gorgeous looking setup, what a combination, and really nice to put some faces to names. Thanks for sharing the pics and so glad to see shows happening again!

Hi Emile = That is truly a system to make one swoon! Had you heard the Extreme/Alsyvox combo with Aries Cerat before? I imagine it sounded pretty sweet!

It sounded remarkably good for a “quick & dirty” show setup, significantly exceeded my expectations.

I have heard a similar setup before when I visited the Ultisone listening room a month ago. Obviously this performed at a much higher level then at the show, good power quality, a fully SMT treated room and the top model 2 chassis Kassandra DAC, the single chassis Helene we used at the show is the entry level model which is about half the price of the Extreme.

Gun to my head my impressions based on the above two encounters are Aries Cerat electronics excel in dynamics, speed, agility and, I guess unsurprising for tube gear, good midrange texture retrieval and plenty of air and space.

The Essentia monoblocks at 40 or 60 watts are surprisingly powerful aswell, they did not run out of steam on very high levels and stage big with an authority you only expect to hear from much higher powered amplifiers. Ofcourse the Alsyvox Botticellis are a relative easy load with a pretty much flat 4 ohm impedance with first order crossovers and a 94dB efficiency, but still the Essentias “sounded” much higher powered then what I would expect going strictly on their power rating, the room at the show was fairly large at 50m2 with 3.20m high celings, and quite lossy with 1 side mostly covered by windows and 1 thin wooden particle board wall….

Sounds dreamy, Emile, thanks for sharing your impressions!

Indeed, the next shows we're planning to attend are the Sintonie show in Rimini Italy in March 2022 and of course the Munich show in May 2022.

and i have 22 Diaza's in my system. it seems very organic and life like.
Gasp! 22 Daiza platforms?
Taiko audio probably has built an honorary obelisk in your honor...
In June I was almost ready to order one Daiza platform, but I stopped after the dramatic raising of the price-list, almost doubled.
My new power amp arrived in the meantime and fortunatly works well on the floor...
Good for me.

Does anyone else hear any fan-like noises coming from their Extreme? I don’t recall hearing it before. The attached video captures the noise pretty well.

That means you have the storage card fan enabled. You can disable it again by moving the dipswitch on the rear of the storage card to disable.

Thank you. I must have hit it when I swapped out my USB cable.

The support email address support@taikoaudio.com is still the correct address to use to request assistance?

Is there a way to use an Extreme to handle the audio stream from an HDMI output in an A/V system? My wife has tasked me with adding a home theater set up into my audio domain, and I would love to enjoy Extreme/Pacific benefits for the sound in a movie, too. So, is this possible, and if so, how? Thanks!
