It appears that the Rockport Lynx and new Magico S5 2024 are priced similarly. I know the Magico is debuting at Munich HighEnd 2024, is the same true of the Rockport Lynx?
Yeah, I just got a call from Casey at ne plus ultra, since I had shown some interest in the Cygnus a few weeks back when I went over there to demo the Lyra and hear the Atria II again after hearing them at the AXPONA. He was pretty sure it was going to be replaced soon, and yep, the Lynx is it.
Size and drivers looks like a step down from the Cygnus, but the cabinet is way better, though I would like more details on the damstif3, since it says its just a single piece of aluminum, I wonder if there's a cavity that gets filled with the goo? but technicalities will probably take a step up cause of the cabinet, so depending on priorities its probably an improvement.
Jon did a quick interview and went into some more detail about the chassis. I was curious since they were saying it was a single piece of cast aluminum what they were doing. But in the video you can see that inside it has lots of ribs like the Lyra/orion do on the outside of the inside casting, they then coat the inside and those ribs with the proprietary damping compound.
Pretty excited, we have the Lynx and Orion’s on order. Will have the Cygnus in the store at the same time to really establish the improvement over the Cygnus. Our understanding is that they are getting lower frequency extension out of the Lynx than they were ever from the Cygnus due to the new cabinet.

The Rockport Lynx is Andy Payor's newest Loudspeaker, derived from all the knowledge acquired making the Orion Masterpiece. This Lynx is a continued evolution of their world-renowned enclosure designs; the LYNX boasts an all-new DAMSTIF3™ enclosure formed from a single, massive aluminum casting. This is NOT a replacement for any loudspeaker but rather a Loudspeaker that oozes performance in a friendly, non-invasive cabinet. The shape and size are classic Andy. We are trying to figure out the right electronics and setup for The Lynx. Suggestions are welcome.
I would want a distinctive musical presentation.
On my Atria 11, I am using the newest Jeff Rowland 555 Amp and their latest Capri pre-amplifier with Brinkmann turntable and Wattson DAC/Streamer.
On my Avior11 I am using a CH Precision A 1.5 with a L1 and C1.2/P1 with assorted turntables.
We have not decided yet, as our store demo pair is about six weeks away.
