As the Waversa range is a little bit difficult to dissect, I wonder if anyone can tell me, is the WSmartHub effectively to be used as a network switch? Considering the English Electric 8Switch but if this Waversa product is a competitor I think I would rather go that way.

There is a new version SmartHub 3.0 being released. This is a network switch.

Upgrades:

1. User interface now with high-speed screen processing - no delay.
2. CPU upgraded from ARM926 to ARM CORTEX A7 - now optimized for online updates as technology evolves
3. USB output to digitally stream to a USB dac if needed - ROON Ready, WNDR, DLNA, Airplay
--can either be a battery hub from USB B to USB A ports providing cleaner power
--ROON Ready - an Ethernet network Renderer using USB A port.

4. Double the lithium ion battery supply (Four Banks) and more standard AA type battery. Easy to replace, but needed only every few years. Fewer recharge cycles providing longer battery preservation.

5. Linear Power Supply back up if the batteries are depleted.
6. Battery switching changed from relay to MOSFET to block noise
7. Clock is OCXO.
8. Power supply filters.

Likely more updates that have not been made public are to follow along with price and availability.

The Waversa SmartHub 3.0 described here is $2125 USD plus VAT where applicable and will start shipping March 1st. While Kevalin Audio is only able to ship to N. American addresses, I am happy to answer any questions and of course, give the appropriate geographic distributor/dealer contact information for those interested. I believe the SmartHub 3.0 will outperform, be more versatile, and better value than most audiophile switches in this price range, especially with the built-in LPS.

So I finally grabbed the WSmartHUB3.0 - One of the cool things about this is it has a Roon Bridge mode, so, plug any DAC without streamer into it via USB and Roon will recognize the DAC! In addition to DLNA. And its bloody heavy!

For me, the improvements are substantial. I know the OCXO will take another day or two to probably reach its operating temp so there may some more gains to come. The system had plenty of low-end slam prior to this install, but now the punch is there without the "flabbiness". Bottom end is tight and well-defined. Imaging is pin-point with a "sense" of better front-to-back separation, but further listening will be required. And, wait for the cliche, a blacker background....

Pretty cool little unit...Where did you purchase it? I am in the market for a switch looking at all the options with OXCO clocks.

Hi all, I just got a Smarthub 3.0 and have a question about the LAN port speed settings. There are 100M half and full, 1000M full, auto, and off. I tried 1000M and it makes the streaming sound a bit dull. I tried 100M half and it sounds brighter and more resolved. 100M half is what my dealer recommended. Does anyone know how the speed settings affect the sound?

This is reposted with permission by HiFi club Korea who performed the measurements. Read the second half. This applies regardless of what types of filters or signal enhancers are used.

100Mb/s accommodates the most resolute recordings in today’s industry.
Thank you. The article recommends 100Mb/s. Do you know what is the difference between 100 Mb/s full and 100Mb/s half? The setting has also auto and Off. the owners manual sadly does not say anything. My Smarthub3.0 is connected to EXT Reference Plus.

Waversa programs their firmware and even the FPGA processors over the internet. As the technology evolves, the end user can use WRemote app and not only adjust settings from listening position, this app enables updating the firmware. I would let your ears decide. The entire product line is seemingly forever evolving.

Regarding positioning - your configuration mirrors my home system.
