Hello,
rockna is a very good DAC and it is a hard contender but Baltic4 will have everything that you are missing from Rockna. This is exactly the reason of existence of our company. We have a 7 day test period with refund. You can test safely.
I demoing the Baltic 4 since Thursday and guys, you are right : This dac sounds very good !
In my system with my music , this baby is better than a Cantata3.0 or a totaldac D1 Unity…
I just can’t stop listen to it and my wife too.
She just don’t like the led Color. I ordered a blue led and it seems to be a green one…
Look at this picture, for you guys, it is blue or green led. In the bottom, you can see my Hne switch with a blue led .20240519_205304.jpeg

Hi Guys,

finaly, the Baltic 4 returned at Lampizator office. They will change the led color and the top chassis (minor defaut).
I will take some pictures when it will come back.

we can continue the burn in process of this new baby.
Thanks you Lukasz and Lampizator team for your customer service…and the Lampizator power cable in the box ;)

Hi - i have a question regarding the Baltic 4… I‘m looking for a new DAC to go with my Antipodes k22 G4… I listen to primarily rock related music… from what I hear it’s great in tje mids and highs…. very musical and colorful representation and all that and never gets harsh (which is great) but many reviews say it‘s a little shy in the bottom end - bass is not as strong as might be necessary for rock… anyone like tonshare experience or habe you compared to others?

Alternatives on my list are Ideon EOS and TotalDAC Unity D-1.

Cheers,

Christoph

I agree with this.

but many reviews
Which reviewers, which reviews?

say it‘s a little shy in the bottom end - bass is not as strong as might be necessary for rock
I listen to some rock and a little bit of EDM (Kerala Dust). I do not have this view.

But even if this were true, it would be irrelevant to me. I would never give up believability and listenability and holistic naturalness and musicality to get one particular audiophile attribute in one frequency range.

… yes, but I would like to have all those attributes AND the bass

@Ron Resnick ... both reviews are very positive but still tend to say the bass is a little on the weak/soft/shy side and don`t really recommend it for rock orientated listening... as I wrote above, mids and highs seem exactly what I´m looking for, but I would love to have that AND the powerful/strong bass... so I am interested in other peoples findings...

The Ideon EOS might be an alternative (though not tube based)... but I really like the looks and sound discription for the Lampi... so I guess i was kinda hoping, that the views of the reviewers are not necessarily correct... I will certainly get a Baltic 4 in my room and listen for myself... :)

I don't feel that I'm missing anything in the bass. But bass is not my primary focus and priority. (I understand you are not saying that bass is your primary focus and priority.)

On a separate point . . . I think if an audiophile's primary focus and priority is bass he/she would not have tube components.

… that’s great… I think for me it’s gonna be a shootout between Ideon EOS, TotalDAC D1-Unity and Lampizator Baltic 4…

Aries Cerat Helene DAC will tick those boxes.
… it’s actually on my list, just slightly outside my preferred budget… but if I get a good deal I might stretch things a little… if it’s really that much better than the alternatives (Ideon EOS, TotalDAC D1-Unity and Lampizator Baltic 4)… cheers

Hi,

In my home with my speakers , the Baltic 4 can produce very good bass with my Hip HOp songs (E-40 , Too $hort, etc…). It’s clearly better than my Rockna Wavelight in all frequencies. I tested the totaldac D1 Unity before the Baltic 4 , and I found it totally over priced : the Baltic is more natural for me.
Just my 2 cents

thanks - great to hear

Of many adjectives, I would never call Baltic 4 shy in the bass. Except when the amplifier presents such low impedance load that the bass is sagging, say with the two criteria fulfilled: DAC with volume control and amplifier with input impedance of 10K or less. Otherwise Baltic will rock you like a hurricane. Also we can tube the DAC with the tube selection, I.E. use 12BH7 in place of the standard ecc82.

Hi Lukasz - thanks a lot for bringing yourself into the discussion and sharing your opinion. That`s great! I would actually use the DAC by itself without the volume controle... I have little to no experience in the digital domain, let alone with tube DACs - it didn`t know you could actually "tune" the DAC in a specific way using the tubes... how do I go about this (located in Germany) - can I order a trial at your company with specific tuning, do I visit your company in Poland (I actually travel/work around Warsaw every now and then)... do I search for a local retailer... ? Can I send you a direct message?

Cheers,

Christoph
