I would just leave them as they are, discoloration is not likely to affect the sound. If it's the visual aspect that bothers then just cover the grills with speaker clothing.
Hum is most often caused by grounding issues. Check your cables and test if removing turntable ground wire actually removes the hum or makes it worse.
Audio Technica cardridges typically have pronounced top end, nothing much that can be done with that. Anyway it's good to check turntable...
EQ is totally ok to, that's why there is DSP in the active woofer amplifiers ;)
Please use the "camera" button in the upper left corner to save screenshots and keep SPL range at 60dB scale. If you follow the general instruction to measure at 75dB then maximum could be set to 95dB and minimum...
If I have understood correctly, sound quality benefits if any of the MQA process would be in analog to analog conversion. In that case the sound quality comparisons should be done between original analog source (master?) and output of the DAC signal.
I'm not convinced that the potential...
Let's get some action in to this thread and keep those chains tight
My other [vintage] ride from those days of activity, 26" FS MTB. Did build up this one from parts, bits and pieces, including the wheels. Still does the job.
I will present following just to show the power of AA XD model's DSP function.
The room layout is as pictured below, please note that it might not be totally accurate in relative dimensions.
There is a practical room simulation tool in REW which I run twice with different width calculations...
I think everyone should read and then re-read what Blue58 said.
Just to clear things up, by toe out I actually mean toe in but in a way where the aim of the speakers would cross somewhere 1-2m behind my head. From my listening spot I'm just about to see the middle sidewalls of the speaker...
I have slight toe out on mine but experimenting is worth doing. I would also like to try them directly on the front wall but I have some cabinetry behind them so not possible but like I said, everything depends on the room.
Hi and welcome to the forum and horn club as well.
I'm only experienced with XD models so I can't say anything about adjustments in older models. What I can however say is that those adjustments are there for a reason. Every room, every listening environment is acoustically different so there...
That's a good point, sometimes opinions get taken as facts which they are not.
Any opinion is a correct one but only to it's holder whereas facts are facts to each and everyone.
I'm still not too sure what's all that has to do with MQA or FLAC.
It's a fact that MQA is lossy and original...
"The proof of the pudding is in the eating."
It is not very surprising if a lossy coding would not match the sound quality of the lossless original. What makes more sense is to compare the lossy HR MQA to standard CD-quality version, do we get improved sound quality with equal amount of bit...
Yes, I'm sure they do function as designed. DHDI will of course share the information which they wish, it's only that there is stark contrast in sharing compared to other well known manufacturers. Take RPG Acoustical Systems for example: https://www.rpgacoustic.com/data-sheet-library/
Point taken. I even went to see the manufacturer's web pages, didn't find any much information from there but I also failed to see any definitive claims as far as acoustic properties of the product is concerned. I actually don't have anything against their products, all I'm saying is that I...
That would be really exciting, a slim, flat and attractive looking product that can supply effective LF absorption.
Where I live most rooms/houses suffer from excessive LF energy and room modes due to construction methods of local buildings.
In my system the low mode sits in at about 37Hz but...
No reflexions in the room would mean anechoic chamber and that definitely is not wanted. A smooth and reasonable 200-400ms RT60 values are in the ballpark for stereophonic music listening room.
I have no doubt that you are happy with the result and the treatment is working in your case but at...
BTW I'm not trying to put down the product, all I know it might be excellent and suit multiple purposes. It's even very likely that those panels can be beneficial in typical untreated environment but at the same time it's impossible to say if they are the best or even relatively good. If...
I mean that acoustic treatment is designed to treat issues. First step is to identify the issues and then decide which treatment will best fill the need to fix those. How can this decision be made if it is not known which properties the treatment has?
It's like a doctor ordering medicine without...
Acoustic elements operate in different properties, reflexion, dampening and/or diffusion. This design is interesting and looks like it could be combination of all mentioned properties. However I fail to see how it could operate in LF. At those wavelenghts there is no phase difference at all in...
I have been using DIY version speaker wires since I made them without any need to swap them for something else.
Funny thing, now that I found these comments, is that my DIY cables happen to be made out of tinned copper wire.
Actually originally the idea was to just put something together from...
Walk in the forest photo.
Flowing water was playing with light and making patterns on the surface. Reflexions of the sky and woods add to all this layering of things.
It's good to remember that Avantgarde Acoustic also offers Audio Holography services.
