“Examining the Criticism: Is Synergistic Research Unfairly Singled Out in the High-End Audio Industry?”

1) Ted has correctly understood that the participants of WBF are generally more affluent audiophiles, who are also generally more polite. More $$$s, and more likely to engage and extend beneficial conversations.
2) By creating multiple overlapping threads, he is getting a boatload of free advertising for his products to said consumers. No cost to him personally or SR.
3) Uses whataboutism to support his right to said free advertising by claiming other manufacturers are posting here, apparently dismissing that they are, generally speaking, here to engage with existing customers, not endlessly promote to potential customers.
4) Follows a strategy remarkably similar to a particular high profile politician: endless self promotion of genius unavailable elsewhere, and endless victimization, despite claiming fantastic and growing success in the markets they serve.

Yup … Pretty much nailed it imho !

I have no dog in this fight.

I never have heard SR and I don't feel a need to (nothing against them - just too many other things I want to hear first).

I have never met Ted and although I have read a lot of positive and negative on him, I just haven't spent any time trying to figure out if I am for or against him. I just don't care enough to (no offense Ted).

But guys - you are shooting yourselves in the foot. For everyone who complains Ted is taking up bandwidth - YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO IT BY EVEN READING / POSTING ON THE THREADS AT ALL.

If you really don't like it - the stop reading the thread and posting on it. All you're doing is fueling what you say you want to go away. No one is forcing you to participate.

I wasn’t going to wade in here, but like @thedudeabides, I’ve had enough. In case it isn’t clear:

1) Ted has correctly understood that the participants of WBF are generally more affluent audiophiles, who are also generally more polite. More $$$s, and more likely to engage and extend beneficial conversations.
2) By creating multiple overlapping threads, he is getting a boatload of free advertising for his products to said consumers. No cost to him personally or SR.

4) Follows a strategy remarkably similar to a particular high profile politician: endless self promotion of genius unavailable elsewhere, and endless victimization, despite claiming fantastic and growing success in the markets they serve.
5) unrelated but hilarious and informative: admires Musk and thinks he learned rocket science by reading a book and talking to a few people.

My post may get the dander up of a few - and I’m new around here. I appreciate the marketplace of ideas and demand for respect and civility taken by the founders. It’s a terrific place where I have learned much from those far more knowledgeable than I am in a very short time. Nevertheless, if SR can do this incessantly, then so can other manufacturers. Left unchecked, what then will it become? It’s not censorship of free speech to put some limits on this. It’s stopping the freebies to opportunists - which should be antithetical to somebody like Ted.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, but I must point out that your response is riddled with personal attacks and logical fallacies that detract from the conversation’s substance. Let’s address a few points for clarity:

1. Personal Bias and Emotional Investment: Your critique of me seems to go beyond a discussion of ideas and into a realm of personal grievance. The repeated focus on my supposed strategies, personality, and even admiration for public figures like Musk suggests an emotional investment in discrediting me rather than engaging with my arguments. This undermines the objectivity of your stance.

2. Ad Hominem Attacks: Comparing me to a ‘high-profile politician’ and insinuating an endless self-promotion strategy is not only irrelevant but also a classic ad hominem attack. It does nothing to address the actual points being debated and instead seeks to discredit me by association.

3. Logical Inconsistencies: You argue that my participation is detrimental because it allegedly promotes my products excessively, yet you acknowledge that other manufacturers also engage in discussions here. If the issue is about equal treatment, then why single me out? This selective criticism appears more personal than principled. Ironically, it also supports my original points that we are all commenting on here, so I appreciate your inadvertent contribution to that discussion.

4. Marketplace of Ideas: You claim to value the ‘marketplace of ideas,’ yet advocate for limiting my participation based on subjective assessments of my motives. True intellectual discourse thrives on diverse perspectives, even if they challenge our own biases or preferences.

Ultimately, your argument seems less about fostering constructive dialogue and more about policing who gets to participate based on arbitrary standards. If my contributions resonate with others or spark meaningful discussion, then they are fulfilling the purpose of this forum. Let’s focus on ideas, not individuals, and maintain the respect and civility you rightly praise this space for fostering.

Ted you are a very articulate individual, I can imagine you being a high tier lawyer. I mean that in a positive way. I admire Ted for his work ethic. Hate him or love him, that ethic is off the charts. Wonder where he got that from.

I have no dog in this fight.

Audiophiles always have a dog in any audio fight in WBF. It is part of the hobby.

(...) But guys - you are shooting yourselves in the foot. For everyone who complains Ted is taking up bandwidth - YOU ARE CONTRIBUTING TO IT BY EVEN READING / POSTING ON THE THREADS AT ALL.

Yes, the Ryan Air effect I referred. You can't denounce it without weighting it on. As we both are doing.

People must realize they are just shooting the messenger, not the product. The only effective way to stop the messenger it is focusing on his devices - something audiophiles in WBF do not have the knowledge or desire to do.

Just because you are unable doesn't mean others aren't.

something audiophiles in WBF do not have the knowledge or desire to do.

Don't project any shortcomings you may have on others.

I always laugh with someone tries to speak for others whether you're saying what they can or can't hear in hifi - or what you assume "everyone" is capable or not capable of.

It appears by your posts on this and other threads you are trying to compete with Ted for the most attention. :)

My apologies and congratulations - it seems to me you are the Lonely Soldier in Step in WBF on this subject. IMO in this subjective hobby we are always directly or indirectly bonded by relations such as friendships, our good or poor experiences or our past. Surely some people claim they take decisions in proper blind tests ...

Don't project any shortcomings you may have on others.

Surely.

Well, nice change of subject sideways - we are not addressing "hearing"

It appears by your posts on this and other threads you are trying to compete with Ted for the most attention. :)

Nice to know you are reading my posts, many thanks! In fact my current participation in this thread was a chain effect - I felt really unhappy with his remarks about the value of formal education. Otherwise I would ignore it.
