2018 Oscar Nominations-And the Oscar Goes To..........

Last year there was that red envelope mistake made. It sure added some entertainment across the movie industry.

The year 2017 was a tumultuous one with Harvey Weinstein in the movie industry.

The Oscars tomorrow night I admit have my curiosity in some categories of film interests.
I think I'll be watching the Hollywood movie elite in their direction and voting choices, I'm sure interested to find out about some of my favorites. It will be interesting what the Academy is going to vote in those categories I am most passionate about, one being Best Cinematography, and others related to it; picture and music and sound and editing and director and design.

I'm excited, it's exciting.

I finally watched "Darkest Hour" last night. I thought Oldman's performance was better than the movie. I enjoyed both, but the movie dragged a little while Oldman was great.

I enjoyed Dunkirk more than Darkest Hour but action is usually more entertaining than dialogue.

The one Oscar that gets my attention is for Best Cinematography.

I love Dunkirk's awesome cinematography. But the Academy is always full of surprises every year.
Blade Runner 2049 is a top contender for Best Cinematography.
Between these two special looking films the Academy voters/members have their plate full. I can't be in their heads, it's impossible, I can only be in my own head.

Looking forward to the big show, in just few hours. ...Roll down that red carpet, bring up those golden statuettes, let the champagne flow and the smiles shine like brand new pennies @ the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

Blade Runner 2049 > Best Cinematography (Roger Deakins). I did switch my selection from Dunkirk to BR2049 recently. So that was the main Oscar for me.

And BR2049 also won for Best Visual Effects.

Dunkirk got three Oscars, so I'm happy there too. ...Three great spots.

I thought one of the best parts of the night was when Kobe won the Oscar for his “Dear NBA” short film. I also thought his acceptance speech was better than the guy who made the film.

I liked the water jet ski riding shot @ the end. He won that machine for the shortest Oscar acceptance speech.

IMO, the Kobe film was by far the weakest in the animated shorts. Kobe isn’t exactly the poster child for #metoo. I loved “Garden Party”

And the lowest rated Ever !!! Deservingly so....when are the Hollywood pinheads going to drop politics ? They are suppose to be actors...not POS politicians...poor liberals can’t help themselves, lol

Yeah, I can see that fit perfectly with the political agenda of the self-aggrandizing, hypocritical Academy and their "Time's Up" "Me Too" movement. After all, why not give an Oscar to someone charged with rape (until he paid the victim off to drop the charges). And while you're at it, why not give an Oscar to Gary Oldman, a guy who admitted to beating his first wife with a telephone in the head as his kid's watched. You can't make this stuff up. (Hypocrisy aside, Oldman certainly deserved the acting award).

Now, let's talk about the red carpet fashions. Is it just me, or did half the woman in Hollywood decide to take draperies off the wall and bedspreads off the beds and wear them as dresses?

How about Rita Moreno who wore the same gown she did in 1962 when she won the Academy Award in West Side Story

First, it is an awards show. How does one make an awards show exciting? There is a limit to what they can do.

Second, I didn't think it was political. Most of the comments made were about policing their own industry by ensuring diversity and not letting predators like Weinstein run loose. I would think everyone would support both of those items. Yes, they did also mention DACA which is something that any good person should support.

Finally, maybe actors and others will stop dropping comments about Pence when he stops being prejudiced against anyone who isn’t straight. It is an embarrasment for the VP of what is supposed to be the greatest nation on earth to be so outwardly anti-LGBT. The US is a melting pot of diversity. That is was has made our nation unique. Someone’s personal religious beliefs should not get in the way of that.
