A small upgrade in speakers... The CLXArt a true masterpiece!

Spot on George fully agree with you.stats and Macintosh go very well together. Wilson’s are excellent speakers would love to own them one day.for now I am enjoying the magnapan 30.7s.
We have similar tastes apparently. For the first few years out of college I had a pair of Maggie’s from the early 90’s powered by a rather large Threshold Amplifier. Listened to The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon many times on that system.

I to had threshold s300 amplifiers in the 90s ,2 of them driving infinity iris epsilon.

Ok ... this is as far back as I'm going as I'm starting to show my age ... In college had a Nakamichi PA-7 driving a pair of Infinity RS2.5's that I got for free for simply hauling them off for a guy out of his garage! Good times!

Nice. I got my first system in the mid 80s when I was a teenager. gale gs401 speakers and a nad receiver.bought my dads luxman pd 441 turntable with koetsu arm and cartridge of him as he gave vinyl up. This tt was top notch back than.

Just watching the US presidential inauguration Live! VP K Harris already sworn in... and Jenny Lopez just sang her heart out! So much emotion and feeling put into it, that's what I'm talking about! The sheer emotion and feeling of music, once that's achieved that's all that really matters, regardless of system gear and price.

Hot dam! Thought I'd edit this, just missed Lady Gaga performing the anthem, wow! What emotion on that note! Sheer brilliance, well done!

Certainly nice to see the Capital building at peace. J Biden being sworn in now, as I type this.
Peace to all! And a mighty big woof!
Cheers, RJ

Oh! And BTW enjoy those fine tunes!

I have definitely achieved what I am after.3 different speaker systems that are unmatched to anything that I have heard for me. Got 2 friends coming over for a listen to my 30.7s One of them a clx owner.I wonder what he will think of the Maggie’s. They actually wanna hear my horns but they will have to wait for that.

Just wanted to share something interesting, that actually resulted in superior sound:

Recently I had posted a few updates on the systems presentation on a few other tabs, and received some very negative comments. Such that to the point where this particular chap, whom I invited over, treated him well with fine hospitality and yet he posted publicly on the forum how awful my system sounded to the point where it's for "beginners and very entry level." He also went to the length of putting down the Esoteric digital playback gear and comparing it to McIntosh, stating that the Mac is far superior... and all sorts of other remarks- that I don't know what good sound is and that I should use hearing aids! Anyway, I've known him for quite a while and although he has Maggie's 30.7's, which again he thinks are far superior to anything else, whatever...
I've always sensed an issue of insecurity = "must have the best / must be the best" kind of character.

Anyway, to put together a shorter version of this drama/ saga; I usually don't get phased by such remarks and simply drop the contact altogether.

However, this time round I thought to myself, perhaps there's something more that could be tweaked in the system in order to generate an optimal performance. Perhaps I've not set it up properly... So let's see what kind of adjustments can be made, afterall there's always room for improvement.

So I called in a team of professionals, four chaps who actually specialise in full range stats, dipoles vs room interaction and an Esoteric guru who knows this type of gear inside out. And so the tweaking began over a period of three days and today was the final day.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Oh my goodness gracious! What a superb work of magic these chaps created. So the list as follows based on our open plan living room:

1. Listening position defined as near-field around 9ft away.

2. The CLX's repositioned to reproduce optimal LF detail, then toed in towards the near-field listening position for an awe-inspiring soundstage depth.

3. The Gaia II's were repositioned to form an optimal level of fine balance within the fixed tilt of the CLX's reducing rake angle slightly but keeping in line with its time delay properties. Opens up the soundstage even further! The stats simply disappear into thin air leaving a truly remarkable performance in full holographic 3D imaging, it's marvellous!

4. The Esoteric gear hasn't been fully run in! Nor has the CJ MF2550SE either! So these two units were fully run in non-stop over night leading to the second day... then I was advised to run a full length cd/sacd for one full hour before final adjustments were made on the Esoteric digital filters. Wow! What an outstanding performance!

5. So the final tweaks done on the MF2550SE, allowing it to warm up at length, then allowing the Esoteric digital filters to do their magic and setting back to default if required, just to compare and using two particular CDs to do all these adjustments.

These two were selected for their dynamic range and transient attacks, which go non-stop on certain tracks, so that overall tight grip and control from the power amplifier can be measured very closely. Levels were adjusted only to 33 on the CT5 and the overall performance is mighty mighty fine!

The synergy is outstanding, and now I'm looking forward to getting these chaps back in when the monoblocks arrive. According to them nothing should change much, other than a final bias adjust on the amplifiers since the loads are full range stats... CLX's. So yes, that will definitely be done.

In summary, sometimes it does take someone else to critisize your system, take it in good faith and give it some serious thought, without getting upset... if possible!
Then addressing these areas with a dedicated team of professionals who really understand sound, speaker placement and related gear to room interaction, four sets of professional ears does make a massive difference!

And so with that said, I'm now truly pleased with the results, and wouldn't change a thing. Now just looking forward in getting those monoblocks back, the dimensions in musicality slightly change for the better!

Cheers to all, and before upgrading or purchasing something new, just give it some thought first... you never know.
Big woofty woof! RJ

Congratulations RJ, sounds like you are in HiFi heaven ! :)

It is always wonderful when no-cost (except in time and patience) adjustments improve the sound of one's system! Congratulations, Big Dog! WOOF WOOF!

big dog rj is entitled to his opinion but I really don’t think I have the best of anything.instead I have what I like the most that’s why I own it.
That is the way it should be !

Yes, sometimes it takes a few days to recover and give it some serious thought, leaving other aspects behind... We're not at all perfect, nor is any system perfect either! I've made some real silly purchases in the past, burnt many fingers and still learning! Got thrown into the dog house by wifey, and still learning... ha!

Certainly can't change back time nor those events, and some I regret to this day... However, it takes a lot of courage and great deal of focus to simply move forwards, take things to heart and realise perhaps that person was actually trying to help afterall.

Speaking of "recovery," the medics overseas have done yet another marvellous job of looking after Pops. So he's now on the mend... The only issue we're faced with at this stage is, all the care and arrangements are in place, and it does cost a lot! A couple grand a month for nurses to look after 24/7... the problem is he's 87, going on 88 in June and one stubborn fella! Says he doesn't require the care, "that's for old people!" Was his remark... go figure! Falling once and afflicting head injuries is one thing, falling multiple times and nearly losing it is another battle, both mentally and emotionally for us, since Int'l travel is restricted... nothing opening up in Aus till end of 2021 so they say.

Anyway, that's about the time I decided to get some professional help from these chaps, just to see what's in store and oh my! What a wonderful idea it was! Afterall, the music is what it's all about.

Lagonda; the last time (few years ago) around this month I was sitting in front of the ML Statements driven with a full array of Dan D's Relentless monoblocks, superb! Then I was invited again this Feb but we can't go anywhere! My good mate has now taken delivery of the new Relentless preamp or is it the Progression pre... I always get the two mixed up. Anyway, he parted with the Momentum preamp in that particular system and placed it with the dealer who's currently running his maggie 30.7's with a full array of Momentum amplifiers. Now that must definitely be heaven indeed!

I was looking forward to this times trip but really disappointed it never materialised. On a more positive note, why be disappointed when two great phenomenons took place: 1. The system was adjusted and tweaked to optimal performance as much as possible and 2. Pops recovered! Bless.

Peace to all maties, and thanks G-man, it definitely was a learning curve! BTW, enjoy those fine tunes!
Another woofty woof! RJ

Well done on the marantz sa 10 much more musical sounding than the esoteric.great cables as well. I just upgraded to the front row cables yet to be delivered.
Have you received your front row cables yet? Would love to hear your thoughts. I have an opportunity to upgrade the XLR interconnects (DAC to preamp, preamp to amp), and speaker cables from AU-24sx to front row, and am strongly considering it (have also recently upgraded to Pass XP-22/X250.8 combo).

Still waiting on the audience front row cables. I am expecting significant improvements over the au24sx. Will let you know.

Excellent please let me know how you go with them.the clx are very revealing speakers and deserves the finest cables.
Are you running subs with your CLX? If so are you running full range or high-passing the main speakers? I’m considering that route possibly using the JL Audio cr-1 crossover..
